I have a 2005 Sport with the 6 speed transmission and I keep seeing on here that the transmission is crap. What's that about? I had a Subaru WRX before this truck and the transmission was notchy and if you didn't have the fluid from Japan it wouldn't go into second gear all the time. I am loving this transmission. Just wondering if I'm missing something??

It is a little loud in neutral sometimes but nothing too drastic. I just figured it was normal.

well, my 6speed was super notchy before I installed a short throw shifter kit. Missed 5th all the time before installing that kit, other than that its fine most of the time. However, when its real cold out its almost impossible to get it into first for some reason still though.

There are throw out bearing issues that are recurrant in the 6 speed. However many many people on here have never had an issue.

People who wouldn't normally come to a forum won't just out of the blue come to say they don't have issues with a transminssion. However the same type of people will come to a forum so say the do have an issue so that makes it seem like a problem is much more numerous than it is.

All I really could complain about is the TOB issue. The lower gas mileage is odd too.

You should have used the grimmspeed cocktail in your wrx tranny and you would have never had a problem with it. As for the taco I dont mind my 6 speed but like anything theres always someone who dosent like something about everything.

I love the 6 speed. If I had to complain about something, it would be the squeky (sp?) clutch pedal. I hear its an easy fix or a tsb or something though.

I hear they need to fiddle with the tranny to fix the squeaky clutch. I won't let those nitwits touch my tranny! My dad always said, if it works, don't touch it.

It whines a little at idle every now and then. Nothing very loud. Can't really explain the sound. As far as the Subaru I've heard of Uncle Scotty's cocktail. I heard it worked but I got some Subaru transmission fluid that was supposed to be special order and it did a great job. Still notchy, but acceptable. The truck is notchy sometimes too but hey, it's a truck...

Yep, I had that TSB done about a year ago. Theres a new bushing assembly that they install in the clutch pedal linkage and all your problems of squeaking/creaking will go away! Highly recommended you get it done if you can! :)

it just wouldnt go in initially when going through the gears, really! It was quite strange. It acted almost like there was a detent like there is when you shift to reverse. It would sometimes grind a tad, then if you just muscled it enough it would click into gear finally. Im sure it was some issue with the shifter and the gears not meshing, but it was really annoying and luckily the URD short shifter kit solved it.:)
