I think this front end clunk is a common thing on these lifted Tacoma's.I'm sure someone will chime in and tell u the fix for this.

Looks much better! I get that little clunk up front, have since new... Installed my lift and re torqued everything to no avail. Whatever.
My four wheel camper is coming in two weeks, can't wait. I just removed the large upper overload from my dakars and installed the add a leaf. The overload was stopping the suspension short of even touching my super bumps, so I thought it was redundant. I added rock sliders and two batteries behind the passenger rear seat, but it is definitely a rougher ride. Can't wait to see how the ride works out with the camper, hopefully not too rough with the add a leaf and the timbrens I have.

Thanks @Brjw ... do you have that camper on yet?

Update to this front end clunk (actually more of a metal pop). Still a problem. When I pull into my driveway (right turn, up a grade) or flex the front end at all for that matter, there is a metal knock or pop. I spent a bit of time trying to pinpoint the problem.

I removed the little splash guard skid plate and went for a drive. Problem remained.

I removed the sway bar as well as the skid plate. No more metal popping/knocking sound when the front end flexes.

With the sway bar removed, my truck drove like a 3 wheeler so it's not an option to leave it off. Any ideas what the problem is? Everything seems torqued down and don't see a problem with any of the sway bar components. Is it just because there is a bunch of weight in the bed (camper is only around 750 lbs) and they truck is not handling the extra torque when it twists?

Anyone who drives with a camper or a bunch of weight chime in ----- do you also hear a sound like this when your front end flexes?

Yeah if I am thinking of the same things, I removed those to remove the sway bar and they were tight (3 bolts on one, 4 on the other) both before and especially after my removal and reinstall.

No shit. I knew (I think I knew) TORTUN4 was for standard leaf pack and TORTUN4L was for the Leaf pack + 1 as we have in all Canadian Tacomas. I assumed the one made for the stronger leaf pack would be more HD but I guess not.

I like the 4L. Don't notice the transition from leaf pack to bumpstop, and they handled my camper really well before I had the Dakars to carry its weight.

I got that same clunk when going up an angled driveway ever since I added my all pro standard leaf pack. That crap lasted for about a year. I went to get my tires rotated last week and that noise is completely gone. Might have to do something with the lug nuts. Idk tho. I make sure everything is torqued right. Anyways, here is my rear setup.

Thanks. Clunk has been gone ever since I cranked down on my cab mounts and the crossmember bolts at the transmission. (yellow arrows in this picture)

I had read somewhere in here that the crew at a dealer's bodyshop diagnosed and fixed a persistent front end clunk when flexing at all - even by turning. They said that there were lots of things found to be way too loose.

Well if that noise comebacks, I know where to look.

Yeah when I found them loose I bitched about loose bolts on a new truck and someone pointed out that re-torqueing those is on the maintenance schedule at I think 30,000 miles. Never heard of re-torquing frame bolts on a truck for routine maintenance but maybe I haven't been looking.

regardless - mine were loose enough to clunk with about 10,000 miles on the truck before I ever put the camper on the first time.
