I'm running adjustable 5100s, 17 inch Fuel Boost Rims on 285/70r17s. I am getting a vibration. I got it Friday night after work, so I'll be taking it back to my local shop Monday. I'm not sure if they put in a differential drop? Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.

I'd start by checking tire/wheel balance.

Ill have them do that but it feels like it is coming from the drive train. I took the owner of the shop for a short ride and he told me he has some sort of sound machine and was going to email bilstein about it. Sounds like maybe the same issue proven21 had.

does it get worse with speed or only do it during a certain speed range?

I don't notice it at all from 0-15. Then from 16-45 I can really notice it. I haven't gone much faster than 55. What's weird is it seems like after I've driven it for a little while I can't feel it. I can really feel it when the truck has been setting overnight and is cold.

sounds exactly like a tire issue to me. driveline would be constant and get worse with speed.

285/70R17 Goodyear Duratracs. This is the same setup I had on my 2015 Tacoma and I had no issues.

It seems pretty constant, it gets worse depending on where my rpms are. Also I can't figure out why after the truck has been driven for 20 minutes or so why would it would go away. I'll have them check the tire balance. What else can I have them check?

Goodyear tires are notorious for being out of round. I wont put them on a customers vehicle. Its just smoothing out as you drive on it

Hmmmm, I had these same tires before. Ran 70,000 miles on them with just regular rotation and I loved them. They were not very noisy at all, I thought they were great tires. Not sure that makes sense, why would the noise go away?

Just same kind of tires. 70,000 miles on a set is darn good in my opinion.

I bet you find at least 1 out of this set that is out of round. Have whoever is working on it spin the tires on the balancer. Watch the tread move up and down.

What similar tires do you recommend?

Looks that the 2016 tolerances of driveline did not change for the 16. Interested in getting one but my current 09 has a timken carrier bearing and ECBS diff bushings. That is the fix to 99% of the drive line vibrations after lifts or just sloppy toyota line specs on bad production days. Tires cause vibrations but a different type and feel. I personal have never had any out of some 30 sets of tires I have bought that could not be balanced away. That depends on the tire to, if you are running a load d/e range that is a heavy tire made for serious offroading and well a larger heavier truck that needs it for hauling. I have had them on mine to but they ride more hard and tend to shimmy some. The Tacoma is a great little truck but the geometry of the suspension is not made for more that 2 inches of lift without new uppers and etc. Drop transfercase kits are a joke too. They tilt the diff not drop it enough to worry about. The tolerances are loose and material on some parts are not as stout and its american maker counter parts. Drive it stock or plan on replacing the stock bearings, bushings for the additional clearance. Plus you get garage time that equals peace and quiet:)

Not sure if you have gotten this fixed yet. I had similar problem with a vibration that would be loudest when it was cold. It turned out to be the front left needle bearing where the axle goes into the differential.

I had my tire/wheel shop put on Tuff Country coil spacers up front. I'm running 275/70 r18 Toyo. At first I had terrible vibration between 30-40mph. Come to find out they installed the wrong kit. Ordered a new one and installed it. Truck is sitting much better but still a very slight vibration right about 32mph. They said they have no clue as to why and are contacting Tuff Country first thing on Monday. It's obvious that the front of the 2016 Tacoma is different and I'm not sure after market products have caught on yet.

I'm torn as I don't know if I should just live with a little vibration or just get some tires that will fit on my 18" rims, pull the pucks and run stock.

Just got the truck back from my local shop. They checked the balancing on the tires and the tires are not the issue. I drove the truck cold and it still has the same humming noise like its a bearing. I the put the truck into 4 high and the noise immediately went away. I'm taking it to the dealer tomorrow and I'm going to have the look at the needle bearing and hope that fixes the problem. Anymore input or suggestions would be great. Needless to say my truck doesn't even have 300 miles on it yet.
