the first week i had mine. i was excited in the months leading up to getting it, but i became obsessed with it once i finally had it. i made up reasons to drive, i would always offer to drive when going out with my friends, and my obsession has just snowballed from there. now, it seems like all my extra money goes to the tacoma....

2004. Saw the road test of the 2005 Tacoma in Car and Driver and thought it was a pretty sweet truck and new I wanted one some day. Had another car in between but ended up in one here in 2009.

It wasn't a Tacoma at first it was a 98 4Runner, I loved that car. I went to get the oil changed in my 98 4Runner when they had a new 4Runner on the showroom floor. After figuring out I couldn't afford the Limited 4Runner I saw, I found my truck on the lot. It was the last of the 06's. I drove it and realized it wasn't much different than a 4Runner. The inside was about the same size and the guages were almost the same. From the day I drove it home I realized how much happier I was with a Tacoma than a 4Runner. I thought about getting a Tundra when they offered 0% financing for 60 months but realized the Tundra was way to big for what I needed. Everytime I drive a different car I like my truck even more. I couldn't imagine driving anything else. I will always have one. I'm obsessed!!!

My intro to Toyota p/u's....when they had the directionals mounted on the "top" of the fenders and the tailgates had Wing-clips;);) Yes,I'm that old:cool::cool:.....then the long bed diesels that would run forever.....
My 1st new purchase, an '85 Hilux 4x4 with no p/s BUT lasted through 3 younger brothers and taught my wife all about 4 -wheeling....:D

I have owned Toyotas for 28+ years and without hesitation will continue to do so....."Oh what a feeling" and Toyota LOYALTY come hand in hand:cool::cool:

1993.. I drove an 82' Toyota pickup into the Sacramento River--Completely submerged the entire truck. Pulled it out and drained and replaced all of the fluids (about 6 gallons of water from the crank case & tranny). Then, turned around and put 111k miles on it without any problem at all. Decided Toyota was the way to go after that! :D

My neighbor across the street had one when I was in HS. It was a first gen (HS from 1997 to 2000... so some year in there). I wanted one REALLY bad. When the second gens came out I couldn't believe I actually liked them MORE!

I didn't get one until I bought mine almost 2 years ago. I still love it like I did the first day.

May 21st 1997 at 10:29 am. Ok not really but I would say I was probably 14, so 2000-2001, when I actually started looking into trucks. I have always like Tacomas and always wanted one, so when I got a job where I could afford one I went for it.

When I was a kid a neihbor at our parents had an 80 something model tacoma 4x4 next door. I always loved the way these trucks looked. They are the best! I always said I would have one and finally do. Was easy to talk the wife into it once they came out with 4 doors and enlarged them. :D

Mine is actually a pretty odd story that I'm not all that proud of. Since I was 12 I had been saving money to buy a Jeep Cherokee as my first car. I got to 14 and we were just beginning to look seriously at them. Then, I started the mowing company and decided I needed a truck. My first thought was the Tacoma because of their legendary reliability. I then came across the frame curse on the generation that was in my price range, and that scared me off. I then went to Nissan Frontiers, and that's where the old lady started messing stuff up. She was against a truck all along because of people hauling ability. I have a younger brother and sister that I will have to take to school. That's 3 people. The Frontier and S-10, another on my list, only had 3 seats in the extended cab models. For some reason I had to have 4 seats to get a truck according to my mom. The newest generation of Frontiers met this requirement, but were far too expensive and I complained until my dad took me to the Nissan dealer. He made me get into the back and prove to him I could fit. I couldn't for the life of me get myself into it. I thought I was screwed in my quest for a truck and would end up with a stupid Civic or Altima or something. Then, while a salesman at carmax was showing us some econobox, I kind of wandered off and got into an 07 tacoma that was sitting there. I tried getting in the back (it was an extended cab) and Eureka! I fit! From that moment I knew I had to have a Tacoma. I was just gonna bite the bullet on the frame. My choice came down to the back seat, and I'm so glad the Toyota is just those few inches longer.
