That's a whole lot of $$$ for zero performance gain.

So would functional bead locks be and at least you could get the benefits of bead locks to go along with the mud-trapping downsides. Go through any kinda thick, slimy mud with those and you're wheels are gonna weigh about 40 lbs more and probably rattle your teeth out on the way home. :D

They do look good though.

It's not much more to get them real beadlocked. I want a set of the trail teams beadlocked. OMF does a ton of them

Make sure to do a ton of research first. There's a lot of maintenance that goes along with them and just basic shit you need to atleast be aware of. You've got to always check those bolts to make sure they're right and balancing can be an issue with them. It's not a one time thing where you can throw them on and call it done.

Beadlocks are pointless for most of what we do. By that, I mean you are very rarely gonna drop down to the psi where Beadlocks are necessary in a mid travel/LT Tacoma. They are a lot of unnecessary maintenance unless you drop sub 8-10psi regularly and extreme rock crawl IMO.

Yeah they're basically overkill. I want them and I feel like they're insurance and give me the knowledge that I can drop to super low air pressures if I need to. Do I need them? Probably not. But it's a nice thing to have and I personally don't mind the maintenance.

This may not be here nor there, but I usually air down to 12-15 PSI for lame Florida wheeling (for some reason, I don't snap CVs as often when aired down)--well, except in mud; I stay aired up then because I've seen mud force a bead off the wheel with a fully inflated tire too many times, much less an aired down tire. At that pressure, my tires don't even look low, which makes me think that for some halfway serious stuff like at Gulches or URE, the ability to go below 10 PSI might be pretty desirable...at least with my tires.

Edit: on the other hand, I do know I can't run 0 PSI and have the truck stay up since I came out one day after a wheeling trip and found my right front wheel sitting on the ground thanks to a leaking bead (mud got in it since I was aired down).

I run 15 at URE and I want to go lower but I'm afraid to. It happens all the time there

Saw that happen my first trip out there
