I live on the east coast of canada. Salt is in the air all year, and on the roads 6 months of the year. Also one day might be +15C and the next it's -30. This happens often throughout the winter, not good for vehicles or anything else for that matter. People that do not under coat their vehicles, you'll see them driving around in a 5 year old vehicle with rust starting already, around wheel lips and behind wheels. 2 year old f150 with aluminum hood, already had corrosion. It was a co workers truck.

2004's are still getting new frames where I live by Toyota Canada. Maybe they were improved, but still not enough.

No such thing as a 2 year old aluminum F150. Just saying, they hit the road in late 2014.

And if you read my post correctly you would see I said aluminum hood....just saying

Aluminum hoods have been out for a number of years now on full size trucks, I know ram and Ford for sure do.

Good to know. When buying used cars we always make sure they did not come from the NE but did not realize the extent of the problem.

If you find one with documented rust chek, or krown rustproofing, being applied every year there will be no rust. Those 2 companies make good anti corrosion products. My current truck is in its 4th winter, with 4 annual applications of krown now and it looks like new underneath.

My bad, I just saw 2 year old aluminum F150 and laughed. How is there rust on the hood if it's aluminum. Do you mean the paint is peeling as the aluminum corrodes.

Yeah no. Look at all the people IN NY, VT, NH, MA, CT, RI, ME who got frames replaced. Many spent fortune on anything from electronic rust inhibitors, to comercial products. None worked because truck rusts in place that is inaccessible. So once truck is tog here there is not much you can do.
If you did not have rust that's because you are lucky and you are in environment that slows rust.

I still have friends with 2007 Tacoma's that have been inspected and found to be fine. What a miracle.

I agree that the rust issue sucks, but it's not causing 100 percent of trucks to have frame holes like some people are suggesting. Like most things, the truth is between the haters and the fanboys.

You really need to slow down and read my post lol! I said corrosion on the aluminum hood. It was right where the plastic chrome grill meets the hood, all the way across. It's a known issue, have seen it of quite a few fords anyway.

I don't know anybody with 2001-2008 truck and original frame in New England.
There maybe few that keep their trucks most of the year in garage but everybody else, have new frame.
Let's face it, if this only affected few trucks, Toyota would not have half a year backlog of frame replacements.

Only one person I know needed a new frame. The other three only need the re-coating.

At any rate, it'll definitely be something that I keep a close eye on with my Tacoma.

I plan on doing my '16 once a year with the anti corrosive treatment. Cheap insurance against rust perforation.
