I've seen a lot of center console pics with sidearms secured somehow in them, but I didn't see a dedicated Gen3 holster solution thread, so here's one. I'd love to see some other solutions.

I'm a few weeks out for my OR DCSB, but I intend to do exactly what I did in my '13 Avalon. Uncle Mike and Velcro. Also works for my sharp tool...

That looks good man. How well does the velcro hold up?

In my '02 I have a Blackhawk Serpa mounted to the floor in front of my seat. It has the trigger release button, so it stays very secure. I haven't found a solution for my '16 yet, but not sure I want it in my console.

The Tacoma console organizer located in this forum and for sale on Amazon holds a G23 really nice

That looks good! I'm thinking of adding the console vault and attaching a holster, but haven't decided exactly how yet. I can't do anything until my truck gets here anyway.

    I'm interested too.

I've looked at other solutions, like Grassburr & Texas Custom Holsters, but concerned about putting holes in the console plastic.
    https://www.grassburr.com/catalog/mountable-holsters
    http://www.texascustomholsters.com/

I think I'd much rather velcro a cheap nylon holster in the console area than drill holes. I typically carry somewhere between 4-5 o'clock and with the stippling on most guns it causes a lot of wear and tear on shirts and upholstery and I'd rather not wear out the upholstery in the truck.

I'd also be interested if anyone has Wet Okele's with the gun pocket option. That's another solution I'm considering since I'm looking at seat covers anyway.

I'm not wanting to drill holes in the console either which is one reason I want the console vault. I can drill it and mount a holster. It will be a secondary gun that stays in the truck unless needed - which is why I want it lockable. I'll always have my primary on me (appendix carry in a JC Customs holster).

I usually carry on-body, but sometimes I use a Maxpedition Versacarry (yeah, I know the downsides of off-body carry). I use the S-type, so for a righty like me, it's cross-draw. For me, it seemed better to reach across and unzip the concealment pocket with my right hand while wearing it on my left side than trying to fight the zipper wearing it on my right side.

I've also used in in my car, just put it on the passenger seat, throw the shoulder strap over the headrest and unzip the concealment pocket.

Texas gets Open Carry starting Jan 1, so that should open new solutions. I'm curious to see how many shoulder holsters we're going to see after the first of the year, especially on big guys like me.

I absolutely loved the peace of mind I got from my ConsoleVault in my old 4Runner because I always kept a Glock in it, but access was a pain and the organizer would be so much easier. I'm still on the fence.

The only reason I can see having it attached inside the console is if you ever had to draw, the holster would stay in place and you're only drawing your weapon. Other than that I agree. ;)

It's a 3". I use it for longer drives and because it doesn't move at all (the velcro is awesome, full pin side on the holster, and a big square of the soft side in the car), always presents for a good draw. I'm on a mailing list for a console locker for the Gen3, but because it's under two doors (one locked), it won't really be quickly accessible.

Seeing that, I don't think my 4.25 will fit.

My BIL had a center console vault in his Tundra and the other night around 2:00 AM his dog woke him up barking. He went outside and realized that someone had broken into his truck, opened his center console, cut the cable locking it to his truck and stole it. Took around 30 seconds..... The company offered to replace it for free, which I think is pretty cool.

I'm rethinking my purchase of a vault.

I'm thinking of something like this from ConsoleVault.com. It bolts into the factory console, I think you'd have to disassemble the whole of the interior to get it out.

That's why I don't like console vaults but you don't have many options with a truck (no trunk). Personally,I'd never store it overnight in my truck. If you're just using it to store while you're driving try a steering column mount if your laws allow. Easy access if you ever need it and frees up your center console.

That's brilliant, and I've always wanted one. Sadly, I don't live in a free state.

I wonder how much room you actually have to maneuver with something like that hung from your steering wheel mount? That does look like a good solution. I wonder if they sell a holster that has a cover? Some states require the weapon to be concealed while in the vehicle, I know Texas does.

I wouldn't store my gun in the car overnight - at least not intentionally.
