Maybe I missed it, but where is the best place to bring the wires into the cab?

I was planning to route them along the frame to the front passenger corner as well....but haven't poked around yet.

Is there any other wires coming through a grommet in that area that makes easy entry?

Cool, thanks. Just pulled the panels off the passenger side to check it out. Looks like you gotta poke through a little insulation too....Gonna order up the pop lock version tonight.

You do and it is bit tedious. The wiring on the pop and lock is all plug and play. The directions don't give the right wires to tap into but if you look at my previous post it shows in the photo. image.jpg Here is a tip...drill out the holders for the backup camera and feed the harness through them. There are no drain holes and it is a really clean application. image.jpg

Good deal, thanks! I noticed there was no holes in the tail gate and was contemplating drilling through the metal. Much better / cleaner idea....thank you.

    Bob, Many thanks! It worked.

For anyone with a 2016 Tacoma Offload with Tech package. Connect to red and green wire at bottom black connector. Green to green, Blue to red.

I can also confirm it work. Trd sport tech package.

I also drilled a hole through little plastic piece for the camera cables. Ran wires along passenger frame following other cables as a reference.

Below the passenger door is where I accessed the cab and kick panel. I spliced green to green and blue to red referencing the previous pics but those ended up being back words. Simple fix at the actuator part just switching the wires.

I have very little experience with electrical projects but this was fairly easY. Take your time and think things through! Good luck !

I noticed a little grommet under the passenger door. I cut a little slit and ran cables through easily. Electric tape job after.

Yes, I did this to my 1st gen and I love it. HOWEVER, I LET SOMEONE BORROW MY TRUCK, AND THE FUCKER DIDNT KNOW HOW TO OPEN IT, SO HE BROKE THE TAILGATE HANDLE. So if you plan on doing this, beware of having to replace the handle :frusty:

Can the lock still be opened manually with the key using this mod?

Yes. It simply rotates the cylinder just like the key, but from the inside. It's not like the previous versions that used a piston to actually block the action of the handle.

Good deal, I think I like that entry even better. It's a little closer/more direct. I'm going to try and keep the hole small so I can squeeze the wires through and keep a tight seal. Then follow-up with a little silicone.

It is a very noticable clunk. I listen for the clunk rather than the beep when locking the doors.
