Lesson learned today... the taco can survive in snow deep enough that you have to shove to open the doors.

    Workin' on it....
Driving back from Oregon today and came across a magnetic gray tacoma with a front plate bumper (single center hoop - maybe a Pelfreybilt) and bestop soft topper or similar on the back on I-5 south Seattle around noon today. Anyone here?

Any opinions on poly vs aluminum strut spacers? I'd imagine the aluminum would wear a bit better than the poly. Thinking about a 1/4" spacer in the front and new leaf pack, maybe a custom pack, for the rear.

Why not just adjust your Icons for a bit more lift?

I've already got about 2 - 2 1/2" of preload adjusted on them. 650# coils. It's possible my shocks need rebuilt. I've put 10k on these myself. Unsure of what the previous owner put on them. They were bought in 2009, installed in 2010.

10k? Unless they've been well and truly abused... I'm with Velillen, for a 1/4 more, try the adjustment first.

You shouldn't need a plate unless they were the wrong size, or when you said ARB bumper, you meant a full plate bumper. If you meant full plate, then you might need 700# springs.

They weren't designed to have plates, and the plate just creates preload the shock assembly wasn't expecting.

It's going to be hard to test the need for rebuilding unless you pull things completely apart and test the strut by itself. Not sure if they can test compression (or whatever it is) easily?

It's an ARB bull bar with a warn M8000 winch installed. No skids or other extra weight in the front. Regular icons, not the extended travel.

The rear has a road armor hidden winch bumper, no winch, with factory leafs + AAL and 1 1/2" (I think) block. Damned if I know what shocks are in the rear. All I know is they need replaced.

That's a butt load of preload! What's your center hub to fender measurement? You have to be close to 4 inches of lift with that setting

...I'd probably say it's time for 14" 700lb springs. I have the same shocks with much less preload

I'd like to lessen the preload a bit. It seems a bit crazy cranking them even more, making the coils do most the work. Maybe it's time for coil replacement. It would seem my ride could be a little less jarring on gravel roads with big ass potholes at 25mph or less. Maybe I'd be better suited for a progressive coil over. :dunno:

They do need replaced in the very near future. Got a wheel bearing on the way, CV's are next. The boots are torn on both sides.

Whats going on guys? Haven't logged on in about a year, maybe more.

I FINALLY updated the list on the front page, for those of you who wrote me and had their message sitting in the abyss of my inbox for the past 12 months I apologize.

I would recommend someone writing the admin and getting their name as the OP and have me removed (Chickenmunga BensonX). I don't frequent this place as often as I used to.

So with that being said, what has everyone been up to?
Any cool trips or parts getting thrown on their rigs?

I have been building up my 94 yota, the taco just sits in the driveway now days. Its kinda sad, need to do some maintenance.

Are you rubbing at all? You should be fine to crank down your CO's and not rub 265's.. I think your at about 2-2.5" of lift

I'd say the same. I don't rub at all right now with 265's. Looking to jump to 255/80/17
