Denver area - Mountain States Toyota says they are largest Toyota Truck Dealership in the Country.

This is their quote from a month ago when we ordered. Ours comes in January. When I talked to them last week they had 150 pre-paid Tacomas in the pipeline and 30 they couldn't even order yet sitting on their desk, so they are swamped. Don't know if they are still willing to deal in the numbers they gave us. They sent us invoice info and msrp with their quote. Note they have no dealer/doc fee. They list TDA and Gas under the invoice but not msrp.

    Invoice MSRP

Hey I carefully spaced all the info above so it was in line and then the forum software shoved it all together. Sorry not my fault :)

300 over invoice, what will your total wait be?

You are getting short bed. Did they tell you what their long bed price would be?

Ours was 8 weeks to get exactly what we wanted. I think the wait is longer now. We weren't interested in the long bed so that never came up.

TRD OR SB 4x4 in blue, towing package, $34,614 (including $888 delivery fee or whatever) with taxes and tags, $37,335. any thoughts? have a 2007 TRD sport long bed double cab, 193k miles, bumper/tailgate/windshield need replacing, rims are peeling, otherwise in decent shape, knicks and dents and such, both rear panels probably need replacing, they offered $7500, can probably talk them up a little more, would make it out the door $29,385 as it stands, havent really negotiated a thing, this is just what they initially offered me

Price for truck is under msrp by about 1000. Sell your truck privately, or is the truck based on your trade?

they offered me $7k and wrote it all up while i was waiting there and checking out the new trucks, told them i had somewhere to be and left, emailed and asked for an itemized list of the price, they said they now can offer $7500 for the trade, thinking i could try to get more out of them on trade in, id like to get it around $28k tops out the door, need to get the current truck appraised elsewhere so i can know where i stand with that, KBB lists "fair" condition as $8-$10k for what i have now, its a little beat up and high mileage, so i dont know where to be realistic with expectations on it, i figure $8k/$8.5 or so, private sale would be a pain in the ass and id have to do some repairs before i could sell it.

that whole Freight charge thing is horse shit.. oh heres $880 tacked on to the "deal" price we had posted.. assholes.

Just picked up a TRD Sport DCSB AT (Black) on Friday and here is what I paid. I figured it was a pretty good deal since they were offering me 10% more than other dealers on my trade (2013 Audi Allroad Premium). I wasn't a big fan of the bed step ($300) but was told they couldn't take it off and credit me with anything since the car came that way.

Which freight charge? The destination fee? Everyone pays the destination fee so people who live farther from the factory don't pay more to shipping charges. It's also a law, so contact your local officials to start few process of getting it revoked.

But that fee is also built into the msrp listed on the monroney sticker , so it's not something you didn't already know about.

I'm working on a deal to trade in my 2012 Double Cab 4x4 TRD Sport with JBL and Nav. It has 9000 original miles on it and I have the title. The 2016 I spec'd with TRD Sport Double Cab 4X4, Premium and Tech Package with JBL, Tow Package, Carpeted Floor Mats with Door Sill Protectors, Exhaust Tip, Mudguards and Alloy Wheel Locks. MSRP was $38864. Dealers offer was $36,000 for the new truck and $27,000 for mine. Difference of $9000 plus tax and tags out the door. This sounds pretty good to me. What do you other guys and gals think?

have you looked into what your truck is really worth? 2800 under MSRP is A LOT for one of these new trucks. They may be shafting you on your trade in. Where do you live? They may be looking to add some 1000 dollar doc fees before you sign because "Everyone pays the doc fees..."

Looking for a double cab short bed limited in grey. Fully loaded in the Orange County California. Any one know what this should be OTD? I'm getting numbers as high as $44k. Is that right ?

I was going to guess 43-43.5k OTD in Orange County if you get all the options

Spent a few days looking over my offer. Here are the numbers.

ITEM / Dealer Invoice / MSRP
    Base / $31,249 / $33,730
    Options / $ 3,381 / $ 3959
    Delv, proc, handle / $ 935 / $ 935
    Dealer fees / $ 0 / $ 598

    Total ----------------- $35,565 ------- $39,213

Assuming the dealer will get 2% ($624.98) back upon sale of the truck the total dealer invoice is $34,940.02

    MSRP - 39,213
    DL INVOICE - 34,940.02 (After 2% holdback)
    DL OFFER - 34,624

That means the dealers offer is $316.02 below dealer invoice??

Once I go to the balance sheet and add on the taxes and fees I get this:

    DL OFFER - $34,624
    Tax - $ 300
    Dealer fee - $ 589
    E-Filing - $ 25
    Registration - $ 51

    BALANCE - $35,589

So if I pay 35,589 for the truck and the dealer paid 34,940.02 for the truck, that's $648.98 for them.

I am either getting this ALL wrong or the dealer makes money 20 ways other than selling the truck (I understand that's true but still....).

I still have to sign papers and do financing... But this is the offer we agreed to and signed off on tonight.

Any thoughts? (And thanks for reading)

I'll try... True MSRP is $39,213 - 598 dealer fee, or $38,615. So if you're paying $35,589, you are getting roughly $3000 off MSRP. BTW, I don't get involved in the dealer invoice game because it allows a dealer to add arbitrary fees, albeit, "at a discount." In other words, it's difficult to beat a dealer at his own game. Nor do I care how much money the dealer is making; again, that's the dealer's game. Conversely, true MSRP is a known commodity, therefore, I use MSRP as the basis for getting my best deal. Sounds like you made a terrific deal; enjoy your new truck:)

I don't think they are going to sell you the truck for 4800 under msrp. You better get this in writing and add everything up.

Also, the dealer does not keep the tax, efile, registration money. Those come and go through their hands. They will be losing money on this deal and there will be other charges.

Boot879, this isn't to you, I just need to rant....
I have been calling people out on these type of numbers and no has responded with proof of what they paid or what they are going to pay. Either they are lying or they are not getting these prices when they go back to pay for the truck.

tacobella, I know what you paid, you were special because you ordered so early

No problem Z50King. I appreciate the feedback on the price. I am more than willing to post up everything I get as I work through the process. I would like to have solid feedback. Hell, I'll make the dealer wait at signing while I post the info and wait for feedback. I can assure you, as of right now this is what I have so far unless I am missing something and getting lost in the sauce. Hence my searching the Internet and finding y'all. (Very happy to have the feedback)

Here is the initial paperwork with offer info and my notes. Ink is the manager or salesman, pencil is me. Page 3 is the initial offer with manager signature. I have a copy of the final offer breakdown with my signature and the managers...however I am an idiot and left it in my wife's car. I'll get that and post it up later so you guys can look it over and give me feedback. Thank you for taking the time to look this stuff over. I hope it helps others too. This is my 4th time buying a new car and I learn new things each time. My initial numbers were off a bit as I took 2%holdback off the dealers invoice pricing. I realized later the 2% comes back on the base price and not the options. (Right). So my numbers on this paperwork are a tad off from what I posted... But more in my favor as the dealer gets a little less on holdback than I thought).

Let me know if I am missing something or way off. Again, I'll gladly share as much info as possible.
