@m3bassman where is your antenna grounded? On a fender screw with your mount?

Pretty crazy. My phone (sony z3) takes better pictures than alot of midrange cameras and shoots 4k video. And they keep getting better every year.

Some OHV parks won't let you in with those whip antennas because they can poke someone's eye out when your truck starts rocking back and forth

ohh, since this is the what did you do to your taco thread: I cleaned, detailed and fixed the seat on my much loved subaru outback... this is appropriate to mention because I am selling it and all the money is going towards improvements to my tacoma.

 

I'll use mine for a cb when I get mine!

 

that sucks guess you could just have a 4' for a back up... wouldn't really need the range wheeling with others

 

i just returned from a 3 year tour in germany and sold my old radio with my jeep before i left... i've thought about getting into ham but i'll be installing another cb for the moment

 

I need and antenna(s) for ham and hang glider freqs.
But i would invest in CB freqs if i knew people were using them in off-roading situations out here. Like one lane settings such as Imogene where passing and backing up is a pain. I hear lots of people talk about CBs on the wheeling sites but none are from colorado. I know CB and formality are never in the same sentence (hahaha) but is there unwritten formality on who uses what freqs where?

 

I like the zoom as well but it's easier to carry a phone than a big camera.

 

do you mean formality on cb frequencies or ham

 

CB, for wheelers.
And it was meant to be funny as there are formalities on CB even if it is unregulated.

 

I do use my phone to take pictures of my truck every where I go. After I'm done installing my new headlights I'm taking my truck somewhere to get a good photo shoot to take with my phone

 

Looked at a car today so I can park the taco for winter. Really hoping I can get it! Do not want the taco rotting to death from salt.

 

I like the repeater reach on the ham freqs when local ham clubs support them, so i will never abandon that for emergencies.

I was secretly hoping, when i moved to Colorado (2001), that the offroading world had something like channel 16 in the VHF marine world. You always monitor 16, and you can hail everyone near by on it, but you move chit chat on other channels. So we would always be able to coordinate tight traffic spots or hail near by help for emergencies, find your buddy, etc.
I got the impression CB was never that formal, but having never owned a CB radio i never knew for sure.

 

From what I've discovered, a lot of truckers use 19. That's about all I know in regard to "formalities"

 

Those shackles are so solid. I added an extra hole so I could run them close to stock height. Plenty of room to grow if the weight goes up or the deavers sag.
