Hey all, I recently bought an 01 Taco and now I am moving across the country.

I'm going from Imperial Valley, California to Nashville area, Tennessee. I am planning to move next week and will try to take as many pictures as possible. The trip will include Me, my mom, and a 4 month old pup. We will have my bed completely filled with boxes and possibly a small trailer.

We are hoping the trip will be only a few days because I have to switch schools, and I need to be there ASAP, however with a puppy and a trailer, I think it'll be a tad longer.

I'll try to update with pics and a small description every time wifi is available.

Here's the Truck and me pup:

Edit: this thread is just something I'm starting in my free time. I think we will be packed up and ready to go by the end of next week.

good luck. I think they make cage "blankets" or something for long trips in case your pup has an "accident"

Yep we just bought a ton of cheap blankets and we are going to try to make a bed sort of thing out of it. We don't really have a cage that would fit in the back of my ex.cab. He barely fits back there as it is :sadviolin:

    Dec 3rd:
Barely got going today. My truck never came with towing lights so it was a pain to hook them up. The trailer I'm borrowing is completely filled to the top. 5th gear barely holds the speed on the freeway but I'm not going past 60 just to be safe.

We left at about 3pm. Now in the middle of AZ.

Also, got to 122222 miles today :)

Dec4: after 12 hours of continuous driving, I decided to pull over and take a nap. Rest stops were closed so just pulled in a random road by the freeway. Don't know how long I was there, but I was awoken by a couple of cops. They were pretty cool for not giving me any tickets or anything, they were just checking to make sure we were all good.

    Took a few pics.

Now in Texas. Man, rap is everywhere out here, and LOUD.

Man Texas takes forever to get through, it's such a huge state. Anyways ,

Dec5: plowed through Texas and Arkansas. We stopped late last night at a Walmart to camp at and to rest, and ONLY IN ARKANSAS DO YOU SEE A GROUP OF LOWERED CHEVY TRUCKS BBQ'ING IN A WALMART PARKING LOT AT 1am.:oldglory:

Anyways, Dec6: made it to TN. Was an uneventful and boring trip, but we made it. My only regret is rushing through the states. I wish I had a month or two so I could really "smell the roses"

Oh well, I gotta start school tomorrow. :sadviolin:

    Peace:wave:

You going to Vandy? I just moved out of TN. Nashville is a good place, you'll like it.

Very nice, I'm so jealous! I'd love to travel across the country to Florida to visit my sister in law next summer. I hate flying, and now even moreso since the travel warnings have been in the orange lately. Nice truck, and very cute pit! He's beautiful and will be stunning when he grows up.

Vandy? Actually never heard of it.
Thanks! He's half American Bulldog, but I'm not sure what the other half is. As for traveling, if you have the time, I say go for it. It's a really nice drive. There were clear skies the entire trip.

Yeah it would be awesome, I love road tripping. Furthest I've gone from Montana is Phoenix, AZ in my 2011 2nd gen but that's it. I think the trip to Florida would be awesome, drive across the whole country. Hopefully we can make it happen this summer. Need to get my timing belt done though before that trip haha. Don't think mine's ever been done and is creeping up on 100k miles.

Ugh. I drove from Arizona to Michigan recently. But, it was in my girlfriend's passat. It was a boring ass drive for me as it was solo. 2000k + miles. Nothing to see until I actually got to Michigan. I did a mix of night driving too though. Gave me an ego boost too because I just replaced the timing belt and water pump, radiator, hoses, the whole cooling system really, and a tuneup. And was my second time doing that job, the yota being the first time. And not a single issue with the car all the way there. One day I hope to do a little bit of traveling in the yota once I finish setting her up with gear and all the maintenance I need to do. Not too far though. We got stranded in her passat when the cooling system took a dump. That was the reason for the trip to Michigan. Delivering her car back to her while she's in college there.. I've also drove from Colorado to az. And that was with the girlfriend and was a lot of fun. Lots to see that way. Stopped at meteor crater. That was pretty awesome. Pictures don't do it justice at all. Gotta see that beast in person. Never woulda thought until I saw it myself. Anywho, that's my experiences.

Good luck and have fun bro.

Oh yeah, I saw the meteor crater a few years ago. That sucker is huge. If I remember right, if you use binoculars to see the very bottom of it, there is a life size cutout of an astronaut. Pretty cool.
