stereo wire diagram help please

I am looking for the diagram for the stereo wiring harness. I mean the one that is in the dash that is connected to the back of the OEM stereo.

I have seen several posts that describe the wiring harness that you can purchase and connect to the OEM one but this is NOT what I am looking for.

I plan to cut the existing connector off and wired directly to the connector on my new stereo but I can not find the specs any where. I realize this might not be the best option if I want to install the old radio back.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

My question to you is WHY? There's no benefit and the money saved would not outweigh the headache unless you know what you are doing.

I don't know about the Tacoma but if there are two plugs then one may contain the power and ground and the other would be the speaker connections. Take a test light or multimeter and determine which leads have power.

DO NOT cut your factory harness.. no reason to really, and it just makes for a PIA later. If you are worried about fidelity you should be running new wire for everything anyways.
Just use a Metra or Schosche harness adapater.

I cut off the factory harness. It wasn't the end of the world. I used a diagram like this one to match Toyota's wire colors with the equivalents on the wiring harness for my new stereo:



It worked well for me. If you've never done wiring before, it might take a little trial and error to get the hang of stripping the wires, twisting the paired wires together, and making a neat and secure cap out of electrical tape.

 

To be clear, I don't recommend this approach. But if it's too late to buy an adapter and, like me, you have already cut off the factory harness, I hope this helps.

 

I hate to say it, but only tweakers chop the factory harness to install a stereo.
