Everybody starts somewhere. If you're gonna buy your own lift then not that... haha

Light bars are hit and miss. Some people have great luck with china bars, others have awful set up. I have an SDS Off-Road Light bar which is made in china, assembled in the US (So made in china). But it has a warranty from the company which I liked. Plus I liked the style of it. I think @deadhed61 has a china bar that looks exactly like it but no warranty. Probably much cheaper though.

If you want a USA bar, rigid or baja are the only 2 I know and you are looking at some beastly high prices there. You get what you pay for though. I have rigid pods and love them. Definitely very high quality.

I'd go armor or suspension first. I regret waiting on skids and sliders. Should have done that before bumpers. Love my bumpers though.

Speaking of the usefulness of my little HAM radio... We went up to camp at the hot springs this weekend, and OTW back down there was a major production going on at Gibraltar rock, with a zipline setup from the top of the rock to the other side of the mountain, downhill skateboarders, and mountain bikers. Looked like a major commercial being filmed. As we passed the turnout by the rock, one of the tech/grip looking guys flagged me down and asked if I had a way to communicate with the paragliders who were flying the canyon, to let them know a helicopter was coming in shortly to film this zipline stunt. I know that the paragliders use HAM radios as comms up there, so I called a buddy who flies and asked him for the frequency, got one of the pilots on the radio, and let them know the bird was coming. They were stoked to have been given the heads-up, the production crew was stoked, and I was ecstatic that I was able to use the little Baofeng to help these guys out. HAM Radio FTMFW!

Do you guys usually have your CB's on while driving? What channel? I've heard 4 is the unofficial 4wd channel...

I don't usually have mine on.. but I could start making it a habit!

I'll probably have mine on while driving alone. My girlfriend would kill me if I had it on all the time.

Is there a class? And where would you take it? I've read online that there are classes, guess I haven't actually looked to see if any are in the Lompoc-area. Is it a yearly test you take or is it a one and done deal? Guess I should use the search button...but... :typing:

Also anyone have any good mods to prevent CV Boot tears? Was changing my oil this weekend and noticed the boot was torn....third time in 2 years....
I've searched the rest of the forum for solutions and from what I saw it seems to be a common problem on lifted and 2nd gens in general... someone said that silicone lube helped...have you guys had any problems with CV boots?
