Ugh someone scraped my bumper and peeled a 4 inch gash of dip :frusty:. Looks like I will be redoing it come springtime. I wish this was a little more scuff resistant.

Nice dude, those came out clean. Only other thing I wasn't sure of, do you tape off the valve stem or what do you do to avoid that?

Dipped my rear bumper this last summer (turned out great) After I finished the bumper the wife says "You should derp your side steps too" I did a double take, never heard her use that term before, didn't even know she knew it. After seeing yours I think she is right. But it'll have to wait til spring now.

I just sprayed it right on the valve stem. Used cheap temporary caps that I tossed when I was done, put the good ones back on.

Definitely remove the wheels, dip the back side as well. It'll help protect the wheel from the elements and brake dust.

I took mine off, but next time I will leave em on. The stuff is so forgiving. I was concerned with getting the dip on the lugnuts, not a concern it will just peel off. Also, I ran a razor knife with very very light pressure, around the wheel to tire lip, after every coat. The first time I dipped them, i did not do this, and the dip bridged this gap, and when I peeled it off the tire, it peeled a little off the metal lip as well.

4 coats back with 3 coats graphite metalizer

I taped the stems and covers. I also only sprayed the front of the wheel, no need to do the backside.

Alright going to be attempting this tomorrow. Can someone review my attack plan and let me know if this sounds like the proper method:

    1. Clean badges with alcohol & alcohol dipped qtip.
    2. Tape off area around the badges leaving a 1/2" or so gap between the tape and the actual emblem.
    3. Apply 1 thin dusting coat, allow 15 minutes to dry.
    4. Apply follow up coat, 3-4 passes, allow 15 minutes to dry.
    5. Repeat step 4, leaving 15 minutes between coats. Apply 5 coats total.
    6. Allow final coat 30 minutes to dry before removing tape.
    7. Remove any excess between letters, etc. with toothpick (twisting action).
    8. Badges done.
Sound good to everyone? I'll take before and after shots as well.

Dipped my TRD exhaust tip today! It is mid twenties here today so I had to take it inside and dip it in my basement.

    In progress...

Alright so I followed this method except I left 20 minutes between coats because the weather was pretty cool outside.

The emblems turned out great overall except for 2 small hitches:

The 'A' in Toyota got messed up when I was tooth-picking out the center portion:
    IMG_3845.jpg

And the top of the Driver's Side Tacoma badge peeled off when I was removing the tape:

    IMG_3844.jpg

The other emblems didn't mess up on top like this one did, so I'm not really sure what I did wrong. Has anyone else had this happen to theirs and what do I need to do differently to fix this?
