If you put BlueT on your ignore list you will not see his posts and won't have an urge to feed the troll. He will eventually go away if enough ignore him.

    2014.

Ram 2500, 5.7 Hemi, SLT Quad Cab 4x4. Here's all that went wrong:

    New front differential.
    New driver front wheel hub.
    New ABS control module.
New ECU for tire sensors (x3 and every time it knocked out my 4x4 and dash panel readings)
    New rear transmission seal.

I'm sure I'm missing a few things but those come to mind first. All in under 2 years of ownership with about 75,000 km on the clock. We have another Ram that was bought at the same time that just had the transmission replaced... yeah I'll be avoiding that brand for another 10ish years just like I did last time. At least it was my work truck so the company eats the loss, not me.

Well think of the bright side you could have had the diesel to deal with. Neighbour has the 2500 RAM in a diesel and his list would be longer than yours, though I notice some are the same. He has already ordered a new 3/4 Ton Ford I think.

What exposed metal? I've been all under my vehicle and did not see any bare metal.. There were a few spots that looked like the paint got nicked but I sealed it wheel bearing grease.

I moded 1999 Taco so much it had turned to Land Cruiser
F150 is my second choice right now after Titan XD. There are so many F150 around here its not funny. It seems everybody has one now.
I never had major problems with any Ford I owned, so I see their quality on par with Toyota, key thing with FORD is to stay away from service as these guys will break shit.
Aluminum FORD would be my second choice...

Dayum. Had a 2011 1500 Ram sport and it's been my favorite vehicle ever. Miss it to this day.

Most likely, my next vehicle will be between a new Taco or new 1500 Ram sport

I have a 2012 ram sport and have great luck. Love the truck, my next truck will be a taco, along with keeping my ram. Can't give up the benefits of a full size with a family and trailers to pull (big for 1/4 ton)

Too bad you had bad luck with yours.

That's not metal or rust on the wield spots. I believe it was discussed that it was copper or whatever material they used for the wield.

I've had two bad Rams in a row. One was a 2000 something I had for a summer that had fuel tank/tank seal issues every few days that put it into limp mode all the time. Too each their own, but I'm done with them.

Edit: I will say that both were field/work trucks so they saw tougher duty than a town half ton. I'd say though that field work is basically accelerated wear and we don't see these sort of issues on our GM's or Fords until they are well past 100k. Even then GM's seem to just have a few driveline issues and Fords, well, really they just keep running for us until someone does something to mess them up.

Does copper rust like iron and steel? Isn't your concern with seeing bare steel rust or corrosion. Copper doesn't rust or corrode as easily..just patinas.

I spent a good portion of my time banking companies in the oil patch. I once asked George Blackstock why he used Ford trucks exclusively for Beta Well Services. George told me, "Bob, most of my field workers come off the farm. They grow up wanting a Ford pick up. They come to work for me they get their Ford pick-up and they look after them. Buy them GM or Dodge and they run them into the ground and then ask for a Ford as a replacement." I suspect George's experience holds true to this day in the Alberta Oil Patch.

Run Dodge up here and you are married to them as nobody wants to buy a used Dodge. They are deeply discounted and they still don't sell. They just don't hold up because they are simply poorly constructed with less than stellar parts. GM makes a good highway truck bit not so hot in the bush. Ford has the best reputation. Tundra is not hardly ever mentioned. Overly priced, poor gas mileage and old technology are the reasons given for not buying the Tundra. They are well built.

I think the best way to close this 2016 rust debate either way is for some 2016 owners to get under their trucks and check. Take a few photos and if they notice something that looks like rust then take a picture and run a rag across it to determine if its rust or slag or paint.

If the weather is good this weekend then then I might actually go down to a lot and take a look.

I did. No evidence of rust at all. Mind I have only had the truck for a couple of weeks. :>). IOt did come up from Texas though so I would assume from the posts if it is still recognizable as a truck it isn't rusting. I suspect I will have more rust on me in ten years than the truck will have. Hell odds are the truck will be still around and I won't be.:(

I work in the woods for a living. I have access to many work trucks. Our 2013 f-150 has had the door handle not work, power window switches go bad, broken from cv joint and transmission shuttering. Our gm products hold up the best. Older dodges I would not touch. The newer dodge in our fleet are a major improvement. The Cummins engine is far superior to any super duty. The 6.0 was a complete disaster, the 6.4 wasn't much better. The new 6.7 the jury is still out.
Work buddy has a newer tundra and everything but the t-case has been replaced. Yes that includes the engine and transmission. Toyota knows how to build small trucks, and they should stick to that (taco)
Saying dodge (now ram) is assembled with inferior parts is just total BS. Hard to change older people's opinions, my whole family/in laws bleed gm Orange!

I think we should all just drop this thread and revisit it in 3-5 years.

Yeah, took my f450 service truck in for its 20k service and they stripped the oil drain plug to where they can't get it out. Still hasn't been resolved. Glad it's a company truck though. But the truck itself is awesome, love it
