Ok, so you're no were close to actually being ready. That's helpful. Axle from and Exploder ? The spring pads are damn close to being there as it is if I remember right, but any lift will need to rotate pinion up a bit anyway.

What about gearing ? Is it geared how you want ?

A simple 2 joint shaft Fleetpride may be able to handle, after 5 "tries" they still were not able to get the CV shaft on my 3rd gen STRAIGHT on the CV end of the shaft. I gave up. When it goes (again) I'll try a place in Goldsboro I heard about.

@Dragons Taco may need a drive shaft shop. I would like to take mine and get it balanced.

I was pretty frustrated with Fleetpride, dude looked at me like I was nuts, but when you can SEE the run out on the CV end of the shaft, something ain't right

    Video of the second rebuild

picture after third rebuild and 5 miles, spit the cap at speed, there is a dent in the floor

    903607_10152709635635585_1115898611_o.jpg

fourth rebuild was a new tube, still not straight, but never got that far, it was delivered to me at work, I picked it up and looked it over, again found 3 of the 8 clips that hold the joint cups in missing, AND the plug in the end of the slip yoke missing ( yoke fell off when I picked shaft up to put in van )

5th and final, it's still not straight, it works, I just don't go over 65mph with it much due to the vibe. IF I'd have known how much of a PITA this and the expense I would have bought a new OEM shaft from dealer. ( $850 thru friend at dealer at the time )

I bought this shaft from salvage yard, sent it to place in Winston Salem that was supposed to be THE place to have driveshafts made, they replaced the CV, got it back, none of the grease fittings lined up like on OEM shaft, (an aesthetic thing more than function, but telling of attention to build quality), installed it drove it, it had a vibe. at 70mph, drove it for a year and a half till it spit a cap ( never had time to take back to W/S and deal with it )
once it spit cap I sent it to Fleet Pride and had it reworked, repeatedly.

With purchase from salvage yard, ( $125) first rework ( $250) and second rework ( another $250 for all 5 attempts) and the cost of buying joints to rebuild the original driveshaft for the Runner as a spare ( I still have it and it isn't perfect, but it's useable as a back up) I'm almost $800 in.

    With that in mind...
I know for a fact an OEM 2 piece driveshaft assembly for an '08 PreRunner is $1200 from dealer ( mine was replaced fall of '14 at Leath ) Leath said they will not replace the joints, only the whole assembly, too many comebacks due to vibes. at that time my '08 was a company owned vehicle, so all big ticket repairs were done at dealer.

I had Oliver's in Winston Salem shorten my shaft in my Tacoma. They did a good job.

Couple pins and some bolts and a wiring harness. Not sure how difficult the wiring harness is, just depends on where the connection is.
In all honesty I have no idea, but I did sleep at a holiday inn express last night.

Just cut the harness at the stretchy boot thing that goes between the cab and door. You don't need no stinking wires. Real men ride with the windows down year round.

I maybe able to get some stuff off a xspx taco with the premium sound or what ever and my doors have some buffed spots that burnt through the clear coat... So i was thinking just swapping out the head unit and the entire doors lol
