Don't do the kickout. Just get more of a Rock guard/ slider. You won't be stepping on them cause there's not a lot of room but it will give you solid protection under the cab. You should see the scrapes on mine now.

 

That's what I'll do then. Now to find someone to weld them on

I love Brandons work and he is a close friend but seriously, bolt on is for a street truck. You need something that will not only support the weight, but drag and slam on rocks and keep you away from carnage. They are also great door savers for fuckheads that park too close.

Shouldnt be that hard to find a fabricator. Besides that I'm sure there is some TW peeps that would do it out there.

Why Avid sliders? If your doing weld on you can't beat 4xinnovations price/quality plus they are DOM

My bolt-ons have taken the full weight of the truck on drops with minimal deflection a couple of times. I have seen the debates go for days about weld on vs bolt on but my bolt ons have done more than I need them to. If you want bolt on I wouldn't be scared to use them.

 

Bolt ons are fine, I thought I would be smart and get bolt ons so I could make any necessary repairs down the road on them as need be, but after installing them I realized I don't want to take those things off and put them back on again because it's a pain in the ass; so in hindsight wish I would've gotten weld on.

 

Yeah the main benefit is being able to recoat them with more ease, or if you decide to sell the truck you dont have to cut and grind to get them off. Painting them while on the truck is a pain. It takes just as much time to mask areas you dont want to paint as it does to take the bolt ons off (Mine come off in about 5-10 minutes per side.

If you never use them for sliders you never have to worry about repainting them but mine were toast after one season. I took them off and dropped them to be powdercoated and will probably do so again in the future when they get enough scratches.

Not trying to start a debate on sliders, just giving some personal experience to help with the decision making. Not saying weld ons arent worth it either. They definitely are stronger if done well. Each has its pros and cons. Bolt on just seem to be sufficient for most people.
