I haven't owned the cover, but a friend has one on his Chevy. It's a great cover. Secure, watertight, easy to use, looks good. I have looked at it pretty carefully and it looks like a pretty high quality piece of equipment that should last awhile.

Nice job with the pics. That tapered end near the tailgate seems to be causing issues with a lot of the designs out there. Wish they would come up with a better design so they would fit more flush. I quess it is what it is. Think I am either going with this one or the access. I like the lower profile of the pics you posted, but like how the access sits more flush. Both designes will take a little caulk. Tough decision, but like the idea of a roll up, will work best for my needs.

Ridez, if not too much trouble could you post some pics of how the rails mate up near the tailgate and how the cover sits flush in that area when closed. Another person posted pics of his access vanish but used a grinder to get it to sit flush and ground off his seal. Interested in how it looks installed with no grinding.

I agree, last truck I had a folda cover, and eventually they leak. They also aren't really convenient to take off when you need to. Rollups are not as secure, but luckily I live in a place where that doesn't seem to be super important (knock on wood).

Another benefit on the lo pro is the extra bracket if you have the short bed. I believe the access only comes with 2 brackets on the short bed model. The brackets on the lo pro seem a little more beefy too from what I can tell on pics. That being said, everyone who owns access covers really seem to like them. I honestly don't think you can go wrong between the two.

Can someone explain to me what exactly Toyota does to the bed when they install the factory Tonneau Cover option? I remember reading some where that it is not attached the same way as an aftermarket one or something like that. I searched and couldn't find it.

Do they permanently modify the bed such that it is different than a Tacoma that is ordered without the Tonneau?

Any clarification regarding this would be greatly appreciated. I want to order a truck without the tonneau but might not be able to do so and would like to know what exactly I'm getting into if I decide to just order with the factory tonneau.

For the people installing tonneaus and having water leaking at the front rail. On the trucks with factory tonneau there is an extra rubber seal that gets installed there. Looking at the parts diagram it looks like 62541-04010 and 62542-04010. All it says is standard part, so cant quite confirm yet. Ill try and get a picture of one tomorrow.

Sorry if I did this wrong. This is my 1st post. I couldn't find the post icon.
I have read all 8 pages and I still have no idea what cover to get for my 2016 Tacoma SL5 6ft bed. I could use some help. Here what your working with.
    1. I have no idea how to use tools to fix any problems.
    2. Looking for roll-up that won't leak. I don't want the ones with the bars going side to side for support.
    3. I have the rail system and I would like to use after the cover is on. I read that some covers won't allow usage.
    4. I thought it was between Access and Lo Pro but have back away do the additional need by truck owner to fit..
    5. I not sure but there is one (Access?) that you have to remove railing system and mount bracket behind. That will never happen, see point 1.
    6. This is a ( wanted one for years) bucket list truck, my 1st. Wife is miffed that I would pay so much, to pick up a 2x4!!
    7. I'm just looking for a cover that will let me put items ( G Clubs, items for trips, groceries) in without getting wet, looks nice and will last.
    8. I probably will never remove cover but if I do it has to be easy.
    9. Looking to pay around 200 to 350 dollar range. Will go higher if I have to.

Thanks for your time. This thread has been a eye opener and very helpful.

Haynes...I had an Access Lorado..roll-up...it was perfect....did NOT leak.... yea you need a phillips screwdriver to remove the side rails and install the Velcro/metal mount behind it... not a big deal..... It does have bars across...the roll-ups need these, otherwise they would hold snow/water, etc .... the bars just roll up with the cover.....

I had mine 10 yrs on my '06.... was still perfect and watertight when I sold it....

    Access Lorado Roll-up....= good cover..!!

If you have trouble installing...ask your wife to help..

After reading most all the posts on this thread I just ordered an Access Limited from TruckAlterantions for $395 shipped.
    http://www.truckalterations.com/html/access.html

I had an Extang 2.0 on the old Tacoma (2013) and need quick, full bed access, so went with this (after reading the reviews here, and watching the vids on the web site.
    http://www.accesscover.com/limited/

    1. HINT:
If you drive dirt/dusty roads a lot its a good idea to install a tailgate seal (comes with Access Limited, and most likely optional for other brands). I added a seal to my 2013 after the inside of the bed used to constantly get covered (with lots) of fine talcum like dirt after driving the many dirt/gravel roads that we have here in rural Maine. Seems a vacuum around the tailgate sucks in dirt in abundance. The seal helps a lot, but is not 100% perfect.

    2.. QUESTION:
Those with the soft covers with Velcro side seal. How does the Velcro seal hold up in those high-pressure brushless car-washes that are seemingly everywhere.? I don't mean water tightness, most leak a little. I mean does the force of the water 'un-hook' the Velcro.?

The plastic bed rail caps are cut so the latches can be bolted to the bed frame. The plastic rail caps could be switched out with new bed rail caps and the latches unbolted.

I like this cover. I don't see how it works with the T T side rail, which I use to tie materials down. I looked for a video with a installation on a Toyota, no luck.

This is the cover your talking about?

Thanks NoDak, sounds like they are pretty tough. I see you also live in a 'COLD-SNOWY' place. Have you had the need to roll-up the tonneau in sub-freezing conditions and any ill effects from the cold..?
