So I'm going to contact the dealer tomorrow just to check but what they currently installed is a 3 pack with the helper (overload) spring underneath. Does anyone know if that is what the recalled springs are being replaced with? Or are they calling for a actual 4 pack? These are still pretty flat.

toyota's response was that if the springs were replaced under the frame recall then they are probably the correct ones since it wouldn't make sense to pull the truck apart twice, so once the recall is active they will check to see if they are the right ones. so in other words they have no idea.

My truck is at dealership now getting the frame replaced. I was told by the advisor that the springs are also getting replaced and they are the updated ones that people have been waiting for.

Well this is a nightmare! The leaf spring on my passenger side broke so I hit up my local dealer and they told me that they couldn't look up the recalls on my tacoma because it has a Canadian VIN. So I called the Toyota 1-800 number and they forwarded me to the corporate headquarters. Been on the phone for over an hr and they still can't seem to figure out how I can get this resolved without going to CANADA!! They tried looking up the list of recalls for my VIN and he said "I don't see any recalls for that VIN". I then had to explain how I went to the Toyota of Canada's websight and simply looked them up there. ITS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE

One of the most effed up recalls of all time. They tell you about a potential dangerous situation, then still stroke people over a year later.

Wheelers HD. Thanks I've given up trying to get them to fix it. I do all my own work anyway.

    Stock for now...
I called Corporate , talked to 4 dealers , same as everyone else - mine would not break but around 250lbs it would bottom out hard on any bump and have been negative arched for over a year . Toyota stroked this one too long and I need a truck , not a car with a bed .
12/7/15 I traded it off at a market loss for a 1/2 ton pickup , piss on Toyota and I'll never buy their crap again .
I love my '77 Cruiser , but anything made after about '89 is crap .

    BUMP...

I just got a call to schedule my recall repair for the leaf springs...I have a 2010 with 90,100 on it and it's still covered by my Certified Used warranty until 100,000k so I have been nervous they would give me guff if it went over 100,000K so i am not doing any unnecessary driving...
But here is how the call went
...."You have an open recall on your 2010 tacoma for the frame. When would you like to come in for the repair?"
    - Can I bring it in next week?
    "Yes"
    - and can you do an oil change and tire rotation?
"Yes we can add that to the schedule"
    - Oh, what about the leaf springs recall?
    "That's what this is for.."
    - Oh, because you said the frame earlier...so I just wanted to confirm that this is for the springs and not the frame?
    "Yeah. That's what i said"
-Ok, to confirm, and I know I sound crazy but I want to be specific, this is for the leaf springs? (I laugh and so does she)
    "Yes sir"

    Anywho...Looks Like I'm at least getting springs...maybe a frame...maybe they can throw in a 2016 tacoma too?

My springs were replaced with a frame recall a year ago. Until today the spring recall still showed up on my truck as incomplete but now it's gone so I guess these are the correct springs.

If they stick with a phase every month, I am looking at June sometime....this is probably the worst handling of a recall I have ever seen....

I am also bugged with the wording in the notice "replace the leaf springs AS NECESSARY...." WTF! They should be replacing them, no if's, ands,or butts about it!!! How could they not, when they have been deemed to be a safety risk.

I will continue to play ball, but when they only replace the left side, or try to deny replacement, I will throw a set of Dakars on, and they WILL eat the cost for them.

I agree. I will unleash my inner most asshole for this one. I'm already a prick but when there's shit like this happening, I turn it up a few notches. We'll see what's up.

Good luck with that. Toyota Corporate and the dealers have been supreme pricks about this from the get go. I've gone rounds with both. I'm in the same boat as you, Oregon. I agree that the new wording "As necessary" is absurd. Corporate told me months ago that they will replace them all. They just wouldn't say if it was during my lifetime or not.
