When they pay you for the damaged vehicle, they pay for the unused portion of your title and tax fees that you paid on it.

Sorry to see this. Agreed on totaled. Hope you can get good money for it and find another good one.

Happy belated Birthday. Same day as my niece.

You are naïve about vehicle repair, I would suggest you don't offer up any advice. Definately not worth fixing that truck with as much damage as it has. Especially since it almost definately has a bent frame.

I was explaining his options and mostly to the benefit of anyone else reading should they ever be in his situation. Thanks for playing though.

Uh huh just looked like bad advice. I was not totally correct earlier either, it's okay thats how we learn. Being a douche about it doesn't help anybody.

It wasn't advice, it was options. Your reading comprehension skills could use a little work.

Seems as though you started it.

    Let's stick to the topic.

OP lost his ride. Something all of us can sympathize with.

not to drag but it seems you are stating you have the final say in the matter. you are not the insurance company or the adjuster. you also did not see the damage first hand so therefore you cannot make this assumption. If the frame is fine then the ins company will do everything they can to fix it below the "total" cost, and that's their right, nothing you can do or say about it since it was turned over to them to be handled

to the OP, sounds like they totaled it? if so happy hunting for the new Tacoma :)

Sorry for your loss. I just went through this myself a few months ago. I had a 2000 S10 2wd, one owner (me) truck that was rear ended and totaled. It had 240k on it. I have been thinking about getting a Toyota 4x4 for some time, but the S10 was too good of a truck to let go...until the wreck. The Taco only cost me 1k more than I got for the S10. I could have bought it back for around $350, but chose not to. I don't have the time to mess with parting it out.

The claim/estimate is in process with the insurance company, I will probably know something by tomorrow afternoon. The guy at the collision center thinks the frame is most likely/almost certainly bent or "diamonded" as he put it. Based on the numbers I myself have calculated, It's totalled, but it's ultimately up to the insurance company. Honestly, if the frame was bent, I'd rather be given a check and hunt for a new one. To me, even a "fixed" frame is something that would deter me from buying one, so it diminishes it's value. I just hope they don't try to lowball me. I know how much my truck is worth. They're hard to find, esp with <140,000 miles with proper maintenance and all that for under $9,000. Not looking forward to it
