What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

We are all asking the same question lol...

 

There might be a little bit more light bleed towards the sides that I've noticed, but the cutoff is still very sharp.

 

Make me some clear ones

 

I got the same on back order. Can't wait to see them.

Which base size/type did you order? 1157?

The base for the '00 model is 1156 so that's what I ordered, they changed for the '01-'04. When mine worked they looked awesome, especially with the LED sidemarkers. Unfortunately they both failed at the same time and now I'm going to have to wait for replacements until stock is back.

JKO, I think you'd be surprised at how easy it is to do the retrofit. You should definitely try it if you are willing to put ~4-5 hours into the job on a weekend.

 

Highly not mechanically inclide highschool student who knows nothing about wiring or anything. Might have to try next time I come across some money.

 

Retrofits are fairly easy. Well the H1 minis. There's write ups on the TRS website. Took me 2 days because I started at like 6 pm and painted my stuff black so I let it sit over night. Hardest part was wiring it up because I suck at wiring but still easy

 

Are they worth it though? Haven't looked At the cost really? Really put more light out or just for looks.

 

It seems the same to me, except the more expensive kit has a better/more clear of a cutoff. But for how much the minis are and how easy they are to assemble it's a great beginning point to upgrade the headlights.

 

Only big upgrade is stuffing FXRs in there. Thought i saw someone finally did that..

 

Yea you just have to cut the bowl a bit and doing that as your first retrofit would be ballsy unless you've done something like it before

 

Just curious, who here would be seriously interested in 1st gen double cab roof racks from Prinsu Design Studios? I've been sort of talking to Zach as I am local to him and am supposed to be letting him use my truck for the test design. Just wanted to see how much interest there is in these, let's see who wants one!

 

HID projectors put out a significant amount of focused light. Much more than the stock housings with halogen bulbs. But don't do it for looks, do it because you want to see better.

That is interesting. The D2Ss just barely fit in mine.

 

If its not just a retro fit of the 2nd gen one then yes. Otherwise I'm going the 4runner route.

Do a Retrofit and you will never have to worry about not seeing good enough.
