    Back to the Original Post,
4W LOW is going to serve you well in and out of the water regardless of what you drive.

I had a '87 GMC Sierra 1500 Heavy Half Ton 2WD for years. 5 liter / 3 speed with a granny gear. Rode like a Cadillac. Even with the extra low gear, my SR-5 4WD beat it hands down for dropping and pulling out the boats I've owned.

FOUR LOW and walk it out. LOVE IT!

I think it's more, why do people spend $100, $200, $300+ thousand dollars on a home but not build a garage big enough to fit a truck? IMO standard garages should be at least 22 if not 25 foot long.

That is an interesting claim, since you aren't suggesting that it will be worse.
(I disagree with that suggestion, BTW, smaller engines use less fuel to make the same power, PERIOD.)

Point of course, is that when NOT towing, it will undeniably use less fuel than a Tundra, so as long as it isn't towing 100% of the time, the overall fuel consumption on a Tacoma WILL be lower than a Tundra.

x2. A full size anything would have required $5k worth of modifications to widen my garage door.

Yeah I guess you haven't seen the TFL Vid where they got 8 mpg on relatively flat terrain. Smaller engines have to rev into the stratosphere to tow that much. I probably wouldn't tow more than 4,000 lbs with a Tacoma.

A video. Made obviously by someone who isn't even smart enough to type out their observations. Convincing? Nope. Not in the slightest.

Isn't it funny how car makers are going the route of turbochargers to increase power rather than increasing the displacement or number of cylinders? I mean if somebody on this forum would just let them know that they're doing it wrong, they could really help out their CAFE ratings.

What you say is true but a lot of folks, me included, drive my truck with one occupant...me. I have to say that my truck, is seldom used as a truck so a mid size is my best option. I nearly bough a F150 and had it not been for the perceived long term reliability of the Tacoma I would have gone Ford. Had I still had my two boys at home the F150 would have been the truck I would have bought.

Turbochargers don't turn off. They can't because they would obstruct the exhaust flow. Yes, of course they increase fuel consumption, just not nearly as much as using an increase in displacement to achieve the same results.

Frame rust... happens to *ALL* brands. You need to maintain it.
Weak springs? Only some years, some models, and limited to the US.
Engine ping? You must have a 6-cyl.

You are trying to compare a car that is 2 feet tall with basically zero wind resistance to a truck?
Might be a good time to compare a small car to a small car.... Corolla LE Eco, 42 mpg. See what that V8 gets you?

Like I said, no different than any other truck.

They're oversprung for an empty bed. They work best with around 600-700 pounds in the bed.

Useless? Really. Do tell me what a 6 cyl will do that a 4 won't... I mean besides bankrupt you from fuel consumption.

Whether something eats gas or not should only be measured by its standing against other vehicles with a similar *utility*. I.e., an efficient "car" should be pushing mid-30's or better, yet the V8 you used as an example is down in the 20's. That is clearly in "eat gas" territory for the type of vehicle it is. And while it is obviously a performance car (where the corolla is a commuter car), the functional utility is about equal. I.e., it doesn't perform a *useful* task that the corolla doesn't.

What about "F150"? Are you trying to say something? Or are you short circuiting?
