Starting issues

I am having issues starting my Tacoma. The last few days is been harder and harder to start my truck. This issue is when I attempt to start it, I have to push harder and harder on the clutch to make it start. I don't think its the starter and I don't think its the clutch. I think it may have to do with the slave/master. I have to really press in hard on the clutch to make it start. Any Ideas. I have had the vehicle for 3 years and haven't needed to replace anything.

It may be the battery, I will check that. I did think about that, but it will eventualy start when the clutch is pressed down hard. I will get the battery tested and will post the results.

If you have thick floor mats it gets behind the clutch pedal and makes it hard for the pedal to depress the switch. try pulling the mat back towards your seat more.

 

What I think you are saying is it wont turn ...until you push down harder on the clutch. That would be the over ride switch being out of position.

 

That is exactly the problem. What made it start to go and how do I fix the issue? Is that expensive to fix??

 

check the switch adjustment on the clutch pedal.

 

I found the switch you were talking about. I pushed in the button and the vehicle starts without the clutch. That is awesome. Thank you thank you for all your help. All I need to do is adjust the pedal so that it gets a good contact with the switch. I do have the Haynes auto repair book that I look at as well when you told me about the solution and now I know how to fix it. Thank you again.

 

+1 Was having the same issue on mine, since a few weeks of driving off the lot. It would crank, but not start if i moved the clutch, and had to be firmly on the floor. Did this, and bingo, did the trick.
