This simple project is getting stupid.

 

Are those OEM FJ 17" Steel wheels?

 

5 - 1st Gen Tundra 16's and 2 Taco 16's.
I had 4 tundra wheels on my truck. 3 taco wheels in my garage, got another on Saturday, and the spare on my truck. Thought I had 5 taco wheels and started painting. Turns out one of the wheels in the garage was a tundra, so I'm going with those. Got the tires dismounted yesterday and truck is on stands. Like I said, this project turned stupid... 5" BS Tacoma wheels vs. 4.5" BS Tundra wheels.

But it will probably end up looking like a PG&E service truck.

Thinking about going solar in the house. Question though. My PG&E bill has shot up in the last month because we've been using the heater. Is solar going to even help because our heater runs off of gas (and electric for the blower, but I assume more gas consumption)? Without the heater we are only in the $40 range. Worth it?

I got a quote to go solar on my place and it was like 8 years before I would really start seeing any return, so I decided against it. I think it will start getting more efficient and cheaper in the coming years.

Your electricity bill really needs to be around 200 a month to make it worth it. I read solar agreements all day long now to. Cuz they put liens on all the houses.

 

Do they hit you with the triple rates from like 12-6? That used to blow my bill up in the winter when I would be home during the daytime

 

I swear this one sub contractor is just taking it in the shorts to keep their guys busy. They've beat me the last 4 big projects by a LOT. Where we bid very aggressive to win a few for summer work. I dont get it. Theres been plenty of rumors how they do illegal work with laborers but nothings been proven.

 

What kind of construction are you in?

 

I half-assedly looked into solar, but the 20k buy in (another car note FFS) just wasn't worth it to me. My bill is about $80ish a month, unless the wife is running the heater/AC all day long, then its about $120-$140 or so, which I'm constantly turning on or off depending on time of day. I don't plan on spending the rest of my life in this house (probably 5-10 years and then rent it out).

 

Get a smart thermostat with scheduling!
Ours is tied into our alarm system, and I can override the temp with the alarm.com app.

 

Yea, about that, lol. My Dad, who owns an HVAC company in Orange County, has been saying for the last year he's gonna come up and visit us and just bring me a nice touchscreen doodad something or another. What a bum.

 

Holy warm! We just leave ours set for about 69/70! It took me close to 6 years, but I FINALLY convinced the wife she doesn't have to run the heater at full blast when shes cold! She just puts a sweater on now and uses the little space heater I got for her. Imagine that.

 

Quick tap on your current thermostat with a hammer, and he might have more motivation to follow through!

 

That's warm? That's our "let's make it colder in here" schedule... Our electric+gas bills still only total ~$100/mo this time of year.
