Meh, I walk by the thermostat aisle at home depot often enough. Ill probably just snag one of those ones I can control with my phone one of these days. I keep threatening the wife with one of those plastic cases put over it so she'll leave it the F alone lol.

 

I run pretty hot lol. over 75 and its a sauna in my house (In my book). Right about 72 is perfect summer/winter.

Ah, right now I'm a professional tv watcher (elbow surgery) but normally I'm a commercial fire sprinkler fitter.

 

Finally after 5 years at my place I used the fireplace this weekend. Keeps the living room nice and toasty and I get all the wood I want from my father in law. Otherwise we are at about $70-80 during summer and $120 during winter.

 

I just put in a wifi thermostat last week. The thing is awesome. Had a little hiccup with the install because my previous thermostat was battery operated, so it didn't have the infamous "C wire." And my furnace didn't have a motherboard that indicated where a C wire would go. Thank god for google though.

 

damn speaking of fireplaces, I need to get a new damper. Old one rusted out and won't stay in. I looked at the drop in ones form the top - the cheapest I found was like $250!

 

My wife and I have not run the heat or the air in our house. I will turn on the fireplace in our bedroom before bed but that's about it. I cannot afford to heat my big house especially when Im never home

 

I pay $100 a month in my condo..

All it is are my major appliances.

I don't have central HVAC. We don't use our electric wall heater, really.. I don't have cable so I'm not powering my TV screen constantly. All my appliances are electric - water heater, range, washer, dryer, dishwasher.

I can login to PG&E and see my spikes when the oven is used, laundry ran, etc,. In the summer when we were air drying laundry it was $30-40 a month.

If you use enough electricity to make it worth it then yes, now is the time before the rebates go away. If not don't bother. Gas is gas and pg& e sticks it to us. To save on gas I switched to a tankless hot water heater, made a huge difference in the bill.

 

our appliances are gas which is a lot cheaper than our electric like our AC unit. I dont live in the newest apt complex and we have single pane old ass windows. Shit bugs me to no end. My blinds dance when its gusty out.
