@rjjj629 & @over60 thnaks for posting pics and descriptions of how the cover sits on the bed rails. I really think it matters where it is, closer to the front seems to be the sweet spot. And not too tight!

I've adjusted mine but it hasn't rained since I did, so I'll check and report back on how much water I find in the box once it does rain again. Or I take it throug a car wash!

Finally heard back froma rep at Extang and here's the email I received this morning:

It's the right cover and he basically suggested what I thought may be the problem, I've moved it forward from where I had it. It did rain last night and I checked on the bed and there was significantly less water in the bed as compared to before. Still a little bit but I think I can adjust it a little more and get even less water in the bed. It's just a little trial and error is all!

Ok, I responded to Mike's email asking a couple things:
    His response to that email:
I'm going to take a look at the hinge seal and see where it's sitting and just make sure I'm using the bottom holes for the brackets on the rear clamp, pretty sure I am though.

Hope this helps anyone else that's having some leaking issues with the Solid Fold 2.0!

Here's how mine looks ... closer to the front than some I've seen....no leaks now that I tightened the rear clamps a bit...

Yeah, you have yours really tight to the front. I`m still about 1/4" further back than that but have seen a significant decrease in water within the bed already. Will make more adjustments if necessary!

Glad to see there's hope for a dry bed with this one. I'm leaning heavily towards it...

I have a chance at a used (but mint) solid fold 2.0 # 83915...will this fit my 2016?

Part number for the 2016 Tacoma is 83835.

yes I am aware of that...just wondering if the #83915 would fit...for all I know it might be the exact same dimensions as the 83835...
Maybe someone who has owned the 2nd and 3rd gen covers could chime in?

well the box on the 2nd gen and the 3rd gen only differ by less than 1/2 an inch either way...I am going to try the 83915 cover and see how she fits...does anyone know if the distance from the bed tie down channel to the top edge of the bed is much different between the 2 gens?

Give it a shot but I think you'll run into issue on the rail near the cab, that seems to be where the bed differs from the Gen2's more significantly. I think Xtang had to modify the gasket on the cover to suit the 2016s better.

Yeah you are correct. I bought the 05-15 model...got a great deal! It seals up pretty well, with a slight gap near the cab on both sides. This is due to the gasket. I could trim it to fit better, but I will be re-selling this cover to buy a full cap at some point, so I don't want to modify it.
It's interesting to note that the cover goes flush to the edge of the box on the sides, unlike the inferno pics with the solid fold. I think the fit is pretty close to perfect, for my needs anyway. Here's a few pics...photo-3.jpg photo-1.jpg photo-3.jpg photo-1.jpg

That is odd! Someone stated that they heard Extang was simply using the 2015 model but modifying the gasket for the 2016s. This would indicate that the model specific for the 2016 Tacos is different in size as well.

What's with those "brackets" or whatever on the cover on the outside...?? Is that an Extang Solid Fold 2.0..??? Mine don't got those things hanging out there...!!!

Those brackets are for a Thule or Yakima rack to mount bikes, kayaks, a boat...whatever.
It is an extant solid fold 2.0
