Why is there Rear Differential lock on a 2 wheel drive Tacoma?

    just bought a 2006 Tacoma. Why is there a Rear Differential lock on a 2 wheel drive truck? Please Help

    Why wouldn't there be? Lots of guys lock either one axle or another. It'd work on a rear axle just like it would work on the rear axle of a 4X4.

    Do you mean you don't think it makes sense to have a 2WD truck and a locker? A locker can greatly enable a truck - even a 2WD one.

    Yes there are TRD stickers on the bed. But the rruck is not 4X4.

    there's nothing wrong with that. a lot of 2wd tacos came with rear lockers

    Welcome to the forum. :wave: As others have said, you have nothing to worry about. Actually be happy. Toyota made 2WD trucks with a rear locking diff, and that's a very nice feature to have. :)

    It's for moar traction in slippery situations. Not nessecarily of off-roading. Most semi trucks/dumptrucks and 2wd farm tractors all have locking differentials for dealing with wet grass, sand, snow loose dirt, mud whatever.

    Holy fuck.. 2wd open/open fucking sucks, you gotta gun it everywhere, i feel grateful that i can crawl for the most part and still be 2wd..
