Lifting Advice Needed-Tire Sizes

Alright guys, sorry for beating this to death but I need some advice.

I just picked up a set of the Billstein Fully Adjustable Coil-Overs (see link below) and I'm putting them on my 2010 DC 4X2. I also have the rear TSB done and I will be running the stock Sport 17's.
I'm looking for advice on my tires. I know I'm going with Nitto Terra Grappler A/T's but need advice with size.

I know most people run 265/70R17's but I feel like that wont be a noticable difference. I am going to set the front shocks around 2' of lift because I want a little bit of a pre-runner look (it's my style, I realize it's not everybodies).

I am really thinking about going with 285/70R17's so that there will be a more noticable difference....what do you guys think???

Have I over-thought this one? Will I see enough difference with the 265/70's or should I go for the 285/70's???

I was in the same boat recently trying to make that decision...

One thing you didn't mention, that you may not have thought of, is you will most likely need spacers to run Sport wheels with 285/70's.

I did, and ended up not being able to stand the thought of them loosening up. Even though I know Spidertrax is a very reliable spacer.

Just depends on whether that kind of thing would drive you nuts or not.

Something to think about anyway...

 

You're right, I did forget to mention that. I had heard that I may need those. How much of a spacer is really needed? Those Spidertrax ones are more than 1" aren't they? Is is really necisarry to kick them out that far?

there is a big difference in my opinion from 265 to 285 good luck with your choice

 

This is the exact thiing that I am looking at doing. I don't have as much concern about the spacers. My brother has a jeep and in his world they are very common. The question I have always had but never asked is, do you just put them on the fornt or both front and rear? If you only do the fornt, soe it look funny or can you not even notice?

 

i would personally run 265/70/17's with that set up, its between stock and 285's. you dont have to put spacers on either

 

I'm running the 285/70/17's with about 2.25" of lift in the front. These are the perfect sized tires for this truck, in my opinion. Other then a bit of trimming to avoid rubbing, they are nearly a perfect fit. I would buy the 285/70/17's and don't look back!

I just called the tire shop and placed the order. I went with 285/70R17 NTG's.

He is going to order me spacers as well.

It will take a bit of trimming but I don't care, it's gonna look sick. I'll be sure to post pics.

As for the rear end, I have the TSB done for now. I personally like the "Pre-Runner" look with it a bit higher in the front.

If I cant stand it after it's done I could always get another AAL or a 1" block, I but seriously doubt I'll mess with it.

 

I had them just on the front and it wasn't that noticeable. Probably more personal preference than anything.

I put a 6" Pro Comp lift on my wife's truck and the design of their lift adds an inch or so to the front track width over stock. It's just the design of the lift... same with Fabtech. You don't really notice it, unless you are looking for it.

 

You need to be sure the spacers he gets you are hub centric... These are the ones I got and they are top notch,

Go for the 285's! Thats what I'm running with no complaints and very little tire rub.

 

Thanks guys, yeah he is going to take care of me, he got me the hub-centric spacers. I can't wait, those 285's are going to fill it up perfectly.
