An old crazy guy I use to work with told us that if you tie the tail of you first cat to the tail of your secondary cat, then throw them over a clothesline, it is a heck of a thing to see. Damn he was cruel

Okay I want a 3rd cat then. Cause Tom Cruise proved that afterburners (think F-14 Tomcat) are freaking awesome...

Just think, Tacoma with an After-Afterburner. Unbridled power!

In all sincerity though, I can't blame the OP for wanting to eek out a few more ponies from the garage. These 2nd Gens are fairly under powered.

Headers and Y-Pipe are something I'd like to do some day personally. Though I've dreamed of doing a true dual setup. Just not sure how to go about that. Would probably have to size down the pipes so I wouldn't lose too much back pressure.

Urd headers and Y pipe, and whatever cat back you like or muffler. The URD headers don't have low end loss... In fact it's a low end gain

No I do, but I wasn't talking about a legit "afterburner".

Well, a cat does no burning of anything, it is a catalyst to filter the exhaust. So, prolly shouldn't go around calling people ignorant when they are obviously cracking a joke

You didn't, in fact, get the joke then. At all. :(

You said afterburner... so I made a joke about a different kind of afterburner intentionally making fun of the idea of adding a 3rd Catalytic Converter, since the second was an "afterburner", to produce more fictional horsepower. I did this by making reference to the movie "Top Gun" from 1986. This movie was a major break out role for Tom Cruise, a famous actor also known for Mission Impossible movies. The Top Gun movie was directed by Tony Scott, who is a British-born film director, also known for the Denzel Washington movie "Man on Fire" from 2004. Anyhow, I digress, the afterburner part was in reference to Tom Cruise's character, who is an F-14 Tomcat fighter pilot in the United States Navy (call sign Maverick), and his propensity for performing unauthorized "flybys" of the con tower on the Aircraft Carrier upon which he was stationed. This lead to much frustration and spilling of coffee by his senior officers. It is also a well known fact that "Afterburners" are utilized on jet propulsion systems to funnel the outgoing gases expelled from the rear of modern "jet engines" into a higher pressure exhaust, thus, creating more thrust and forward movement.

 Hope that all helps the joke sink in a bit.
