What type of stuff did you want to accomplish with the truck system? You want a new headunit, front speakers, and a subwoofer I see. How far did you want to go? We can get you into some serious tunes for $3k. If you need an installer; I know a guy...aka ME :D

Well, you only live a few hours away lol. Let's talk! I'm gonna take some time to think about this heh. I don't want to upgrade after this installation.. ever, and I want to install everything in one day. Whatever can fit without altering the space of my truck, or being detrimental to it's look. I'm also going to be upgrading the performance and going for the URD stage III supercharger set up, so I'm not sure how long itll be before I do this.

Now, what's the set up :D

Greatest sound possible. Something I can cruise to, show off, and something I can blare at the football field while playing a backyard game.

Our truck looks the exact same, cept mine is a Pre-Runner... I really want to switch my bumpers out for the black ones, get the black hood deflector, and get the weird black strips on the side of the doors that run from wheel well to wheel well.

I've basically been on the same quest that you're on. I compete in sound quality competitions regularly and want the best possible sound. However, I bought this truck to be USED LIKE A TRUCK so I wasn't ready to compromise usability.

I'd suggest doing a small set of amps like the Alpine PDX series of amps. Very efficient and VERY small so you wont lose a ton of space. You could mount them under the front seats and you'd never know they were there! So one amp for the speakers and another for the sub.

Get with Mr. Marv for a box and we can put any number of woofers in there that will sound great.

I'd suggest a good front component set up front and if you still want rear speakers, doing a set of coaxials in the rear. There's no reason to spend a bunch of money on the rears since you wont here them anyways.

What functions are you looking for with respect to the headunit? With some deadener and the proper wiring you'd have a really bangin system.

If you want I can throw out some specific equipment and we can make a plan for a good setup.

It seems like you run a business. Honestly, can I have an opinion of the ********* kits? It seems like they are amazing pieces of equipment... And they wont take up any room at all.

    http://www.shop.*********.com/product.sc?productId=70&categoryId=8

I hear this is the best sub set-up I can put in there without taking up seating room.

I do indeed run StereoClarity.com but that's more of a home audio thing right now. :D

That link you posted is a box/sub for a double cab Taco and not the access cab like you said you have. I'm not 100% sure but I don't think they are the same back there so I don't think that box will work which was why I suggested you talk with Mr.Marv for a box. I build boxes, baffles and such too but I know Marv has a good deal of experience with the Taco already so I'm sure he's got a few proven box plans already.;)

Other than that the taco tunes "kits" aren't really that special in my opinion. It's just the proper cut baffles, wiring harness, and Image Dynamics speakers. I like ID speakers but I think you could do much better and for not much more money.

Are you planning on amping the speakers? Obviously you'll need an amp for the sub but if you're amping the aftermarket speakers you wont even need the wiring harness adapters for the speakers since you'll be running wires straight to the speakers from the amps.

As far as my own PERSONAL choices it doesn't get any more personal than what I'm about to do in my own truck! I'm putting in a JL HD 900/5, H-Audio Ebony 6.5" midbasses, Wavecore Tweeters, 4xTangBand 6.5" Subs, Pioneer AVIC X910 Nav unit, and either an Audison Bit1.1 or if the JBL MS8 ever happens...I'll take that

I would recommend you stay as far away as possible from *********. There consistently people with horror stories about their CS and with an option like Marv, why even bother?

Definitely talk with Mr.Marv about your speakers/baffles.

A while back he told me the best system he had ever heard in a truck (yes, any truck, not just a tacoma) was a setup with a JL TW5, a set of Hybrid Audio Legatia components, and a Kenwood DNX8120. Of course proper install is key...

^I like the slash series stacking. Good space saver that retains proper heatsink usability!

stay away from *********.com. the guy has really crappy communication, sends the wrong product about 1 month late. just search and you'll find plenty of dissatisfied customers. go with marv for the box as everyone has said. i got mine from him and the quality and workmanship is amazing. he's a nice guy, too.

Damn... well, I'll do all I can to stay away from ********* then. BencaJ, does that system take up any space that could be detrimental to seating or performance mods? Also, I'm gonna take this all 1 step at a time... I suppose the first thing I should get is a head unit... what head unit would you guys recommend? As well, I'm sick of seeing the back-up cameras coming with head units.. I already have one.

I was an eclipse guy too. I really loved my 8445. I like the higher voltage preouts of the eclipse double dins but I've been told the NAV really sucks. I've not tried it though. My local car toys doesn't sell eclipse anymore.

X3 on ********* sucks. (personal experience)
x3 on Mr. Marv is the way to go. (personal experience)

Hybrid Audio stuff is highly recommended (Marv can hook u up...personal experience)

HU - Don't cheap out there. I bought the DNX-5120...wish I'd bought 8120...now 9140...now in January Alpine/Kenwood/Pioneer will announce new models at CES. I'm personally going to upgrade to whatever looks best after that.

Audison BitOne - I love that friggin thing! Worth at least looking into.

Sub for Tacoma - IDQ 10 or JL 13.5 shallow mount are top of the list.
