Kyle yes your reply was a lot of help, in fact your info is my go to to help me decide. I may call you in the morning to pick your brain. How would you say the quality difference is between trd pro wheels and the FN ones?

Hello tombiosis, if it was me I would test fit those FJ rims as I think it would look awesome! The 2016 comes with a factory 16" rim so the chances of clearing all the brakes should be great. The Fj runs the exact same bolt pattern and center bore of the Tacoma so that will be a great start. Please note the offset on most FJ wheel will push the wheel out a bit more than a factory tacoma wheel. When you upsize the tire from the factory Tacoma size and you put on a more aggressive offset wheel you could possibly run the chance of the front tires rubbing when you turn the steering wheel. From what I'm seeing and have seen in the past this will be a very small rub or no rub at all. Please keep in mind all trucks respond differently as they all have different wheel alignment specs than each other and that can mean small variations of rubbing points between different truck owners. Some may experience tire rub on one side more than the other or maybe no rub at all. Alot the these small rubbing issues can usually be resolved with some plastic trimming if it does come up. If you do this package please remember the larger tire will make your odometer read about 2-4% slower than the stock tires, this could mean a more expensive speeding ticket than expected. Please take a gps and get to know your odometer variation and don't forget to calculate this into your fuel ecomony calculations as you will drive more km's on the truck then what it tells you. I personally have not seen huge fuel economy losses with oversizing tires myself but I do drive fairly economically, some people do experience more loss as a larger and heavier tire does take more effort to get rolling if you are a more spirited driver and like the skinny pedal. Lastly you will not f#%% anything up by not running tire pressure sensors. I light on your dash with pop up warning you to check your tire pressure manually if you choose not to have tire sensors. I do recommend to keep this system operational as it was designed for the safety of the driver to reduce the chance of a tire blow out from low tire pressure but I would be a hypocrite if I told you I had TPMS working in all of my vehicles. I grew up checking tire pressures when I fuel up my truck and will continue to do so to be the most confident in my current tire pressures. Please share pics if you do the swap, I imagine it will look sexy and be very unique!

Hello again, I'm sorry I'm off work tomorrow but Darcy is in the office and very knowledgeable to help with any questions. In regards to the quality of the wheels. I'm a very lucky guy to sell both wheels. As you probably know Toyota has a high standard for quality as it shows in the product you are driving. Dustin at FN Wheels also has the same high expectations and passion(last I counted he owned like 5 different Toyotas!) that I see from Toyota in regards to quality. If your not familiar with FN Wheels, he makes some of the very few wheels out there specifically made to fit Toyotas. Most suppliers try to make universal wheels that fit Chevy's and Nissan's just to increase sales of a wheel line, but this does sacrifice some wheel/vehicle compatibility. I've never seen a wheel supplier in my experience who individually opens and inspects every single wheel he sells and ships out, but FN Wheels does this. I have found the quality of the Toyota wheels and the FN Wheels to be great, in fact the FN Wheels have been a bit better. I say this only because I have had a very small amount of the black caps on the TRD Pro have some of the black paint peel off the cap.

Like this style - favour flat black of OEM vs aftermarket satin finish...

    Kyle,
Last question for you. Since I am not going to ever lift my truck, Im pretty sure I am going with TRD pro's in black #PTR20-35110-BK. The stance and setback on the FN's will probably force me into bigger tires, and some fitment issues to get the tires to look right.
I am going to stay with stock tire size till they wear out, is it safe to say the biggest size that can go on the stock suspension with the TRD Pros is 265/75-17? Or will I have to stay with the 265/65's?

Hello VicTaco, you have a good point. The Toyota factory wheel has a more flat black finish vs the FX Pro.

Hello CDOTRDSPORT, Both wheels are great fitments for both non lifted and lifted trucks. Both wheels have a more aggressive fitment than the stock wheels, this aggressive fitment will widen the overall stance of the truck and move the wheel out more than the stock wheel(and looks so much better than stock!). I would encourage most people to stay with a 265/65R17 tire for both rims if you don't want your odometer to read differently than stock and want to minimize any tire rub, the factory sized tire is a pretty safe bet when installing a more aggressive wheel. The next most common size is to go 265/70R17, this will offer you a 1" larger diameter tire. Each truck responds differently due to each trucks unique wheel alignment specs, I say this as some trucks will need some trimming or wheel well adjustment to make this package fit without a lift kit. Your odometer will read approximately 3% slow when you upsize your tire 1" from stock size. Not sure if you will like a 265/75R17 as this tire size is 2" taller than stock and will take a lot of wheel well modification to make fit without a lift kit.

Thanks, that makes my decision easier. I hear you about the alignment from vehicle to vehicle. I was measuring the distance between the tire sidewall and the fender trim to see how much the wheels would stick out. L/F was 1-1/2" R/F is 1/2", L/R 1-3/4" and R/R 0 to tire protruding almost 1/8". What a variance!

Is there an advantage of buying the 16" Black Edition Trail Team FJ cruiser rims versus the TRD Pro - 17" on an Offroad ?

I'd still like to know what Canadians are paying for a set of 4 TRD pro rims….I'm in the process of building, and hope to get them on the 265/70/17 6 ply KO2 tires

Morning Slackboy, all 3 wheels are very nice fitments on lifted and non lifted Tacomas. The biggest difference is 16" vs 17", this could affect your ideal tire selection or your final package price as 16" tires are usually a bit more affordable than 17". I think all 3 wheels would be an awesome choice!

Morning CVOTRDSPORT, I agree it sure can be a crazy variance! Its a very tough question for me to answer for my customers. What is the largest tire I can do with my lifted or non lifted truck? There are so many factors like; Mud Terrain vs All Terrain tread, rim width and rim offset of the rim, wheel alignment specs, aftermarket bumpers vs stock, style of mud flaps and lastly is trimming an option. When oversizing tires it not uncommon to have a small rub on the front wheel wells when turning. Usually most these rubs can be removed or improved by trimming mud flaps, trimming fender liners or some times you can tuck and move the plastic fender liners so it still looks very close to stock.

Sorry SLACKBOY, but in my mind the supply of the TRD Pro wheels seems kinds scarce here in Canada, so like you, I'm weighing the pros and cons for wheel choices myself right now.

For my purposes my tendency when weighing such decisions is to make the shortlist, then pull the trigger on what my gut says, then never look back. That is until another something new and shiny comes along... ;)

It's all good, I'm torn between the 16 inch Trail Team FJ wheels and Trd pro 17's for my Offroad.

I personally chose the 17" FX Pro because I wanted to run 35" tires and it had the best wheels specs of the mentioned wheels for my mission.
