iphone hook up to stock audio?

Looking to connect my iphone (ipod) to the stock audio in my 06 double cab taco. I know getting a real audio stystem would take care of that--however-- Any simple tricks out there? If connected to the speaker system would it also be power to charge the phone.
The iphone is great. As a guy with his own business (Property Inspection), I am also the entire business, the phone has many advantages while on the road.

im curious how much was it, how to hard to install, and quality or down falls to this product.. ??? im sick and tired of messing with radio transmitters that suck cuz all you hear is static and low quality sound....

Yes, but not a big deal for me - I haven't used a CD for music for 6 or 8 years now. Rip your cd's to your iPod, and no worries!

I think I paid about 125? Very easy to install - just plug it in to the back of your unit. Great quality, been running great for 2 years now - I don't even think about it, just plug it in and go.

Guys thanks for the info and direction, now that I've seen several models from $130 to $150, think I've convinced myself to change the HU. Looking at Crutchfield at units that work with the iphone 3Gs, blue tooth and HD radio in the unit. I don't need some ear bustin system just good tunes with some of the added conveiniences.

Any brand or unit recommondations? Don't think it is too good but they had a Dual unit with all in the HU not just "ready" and needing stuff on sale for about $160. Now one of those double units with a touch screen would be nice but the price gets real steep.

What the hell is a c.d.? who cares about a 6 disc changer if youve got ipod hooked up!
I paid 165.00 for a usa-spec Pa-15 interface from a car stereo shop that had it in stock.(I hate waiting for things in the mail) I immediately threw the 100.00 transmitter p.o.s. I had been using in the trash and have been happy ever since.
Its pretty easy to put in, and the cable to ipod is 5 feet long so I routed the cable to that little useless coin tray thing at your left knee as u sit in the driver seat. my ipod is easy to access, yet you cant tell its in there so you dont have to unhook it everytime u stop and leave the truck.

Don't know if you can still find them, even tho I saw one in the FS section recently, but the metra adapter has 3.5mm plug for mp3 playas as well as the ipod plug that will play & charge but you have to control ipod from ipod. It plugs into the back of the stock unit in the cd1 hole on the back of it. then you have cd for CDs & cd1 for ipod/mp3s. Trick is gonna be to find one. Scored mine for 53 shipped off Amazon right before they vanished. That was around March or so this year when I scored. Here's a link to the FS thread from last month............

A new HU is cool too, but more expensive and I have heard the replacement radio panel trim you have to get is kinda cheap, plus you make a better target for the smash and grabber's out there

Not me, I've got a basic single in my stock HU.

I've seen there are some better cover plates out there, looks like the Crutchfiled unit is a cheep one.

I have run into a few extra issues due to the newer 3.0 software for the iphone 3Gs. Some compatibility issues. I think for the price and all of the extra features of HD, blue toooth and iphone connection hard to go wrong with a new HU for the same $ as an adpater. I'll just have to watch for the smash and grab guys, keep it parked in a garage at night.
