    Hello All,

I have a 2012 4x4 V6 TRD Tacoma with a little over 75k miles on it. Within the past 5k miles I've noticed my mileage dropping from about 8.5 to 7.2 mile per gallon and am curious why. So far I changed my K&N air filter and went back to a paper filter with no change. My other thoughts are that maybe my wheels and tires aren't true and my spark plugs need to be replaced. Any thoughts on this? Also, I was thinking that maybe if I change exhaust to true duels I might get better mileage overall. Any thoughts on what is the best exhaust that is not too loud?

    Thanks,

    Dustin

I get 18 mpg. If you're getting 7 mpg you must have huge tires, lift, and armor? If not you might want to get that checked out.

What he said. There's no way you're getting 7mpg... no way. Unless you're running 38's, full armor, winch and pulling a trailer everyday. Maybe check your math next fill up?? IDK

I have a stock 2012 DCSB 4x4 and I average 19 to 20 mpg. You figuring your mileage manually at the pump after using a full tank of gas.

If I was a bettin' man, I'd bet you couldn't make a relatively stock V6 Tacoma burn that much gas on it's WORST day. I don't take any extra precautions other than just not smashing the skinny pedal more than it needs to be smashed.....and I get from 19+ to as much as 22 mpg. 70% of my driving is highway mileage and that's where I get my best mpg's. Even with a lot of city driving, I still get 19. You need a good mechanic.

When you talk like that it reminds me of my youth as a cross country surveyor.

I need to go wade some swamps again. o_O

I've had people tell me I'm getting far BETTER mileage than a lot of folks. May be so....But I'm not doing anything extreme to get it. I drive 28,000 to 32,000 a year on average. While I didn't buy a Tacoma to get great fuel numbers, I still expect better than single digits.

Looking at OP's truck in the picture it doesn't look lifted. Where you at OP? I read your introduction again and maybe you mean 18.5mpg and now 17.2mpg?

But for the 2nd part of your question. Running duel exhaust itself won't help much with gas mileage. Maybe a little. But not much.

Not always. I average about between 7-15. Usually 14 unless I get on it. Bilsteins set at 2.5" front and 1.5 AAL rear on 285's KM2. Even stock I was averaging 14

_DOC7042.jpgThis is a picture of "your" rig from a prior post, with no lift, and as far as I can tell no mods. at all. I have 3" lift and 265's and drive mine hard 75 mph minimum on the highway, and heavy on the throttle at most times and I'm never under 16, and usually better, you need to get someone to work on it that knows what there doing, or get rid of it FAST!

It takes my buddies supercharged taco with a URD stealth pulley, full armor, 285 load range e's , pulling a 6500 lb trailer at 80mph UP hwy 14 to the desert (a pretty steep hilly part of the highway) to net 5.2mpg...

OP no way you are getting 7-8mpg daily driving unless you are sitting idiling for HOURS a day.
