Toyota does claim they are designed to flex, in order to provide a smoother ride. Supposedly that's why they are not using a fully boxed frame throughout. Supposedly.

You are right, I remember that being said in one of the videos. It's a feature. Just like the rear drum brakes are supposedly used because it goes off-road. Supposedly.

HeartoLearn, if this is your first truck, then you've probably never noticed the flex before and you wouldn't see it until the shell was on and gave you a visual reference when looking out the back. Odds are what you are seeing is completely normal, but certainly a reasonable question to ask.

When I ordered for my 2015 I was told 2 weeks to Norco and it took 3 and it is just 30 miles from Longbeach. Maybe 4 weeks at best?

That's normal for Snugtop, and probably all mfg. They are made to order, and aren't easy to ship, so they come the slowest (cheapest) possible way.

I believe the CX series is better suited for a RTT. that's the model I am waiting on.

Today was the day! Ordered 10-9 Received 12-9. with OEM roof rack, and ARE V Series Topper with Yakima rack. Getting Vision Fury Blue/Black wheels installed tomorrow. Thanks to NoDak for finding a wheel that fits the OEM tires! I think they will look pretty damn sweet with the topper! Everyone on here is right, the pictures just don't even compare to standing next to it, both the lines and the BBP color. Wow! It really puts the 2012 OR I had to shame. The cabin is WAY quieter and the engine has a totally different feel. Well worth the 8 & 1/2 week wait!

Nice truck! Congrats! That topper looks good! I'm gonna have to look at that one for my truck now. Do you have experience with ARE toppers? Looking for one with slide Windows so my dog can stick her head out when inside. Don't want flip open windows bc she likes sticking her head out at high speeds haha

Thanks! I had a Safari topper on the 2012 OR, and it wasn't nearly as nice. The styling on this one is much less generic. I'll get some close up shots. It actually has what ARE calls "outdoorsman" side windows, and i picked the sliding and opening version. So, there is a screen and sliding window on each side. the sliding part is probably even small enough your pup could stick it's head out if the screens were removed and not fall out.

Awesome! This sounds exactly like what I'm looking for. Not so much worries about her falling out. She stays in the back without a topper. I just didn't want the "wings" if I could only open up and not slide. But that's sweet that they slide and open! More pics would be great! Thanks for the info!

Noticed that Leer now has the XQ listed on there Web Site for the LB and SB. The LB is a new addition today.

Favorite topper I've seen on the 16s so far! Is that rack on you're topper something that ARE can add or did you add it after?

Tacopacocalypse, are you having any gap issue with the back window of the v series shell??? someone else showed where theirs had gaps on both sides that was letting rain water into the bed. I have the same shell built and waiting for me as soon as I can get the damn truck.

The box is very similar in size, but the bed rails are higher on the 3rd Gens, so a '15 and prior cap will be higher than your roof-line.

Thank you. Just out of curiosity. How much taller are our bed rails?

1” Also, the tailgate profile is different so the door of a 2gen cap won't match up right.

ARE added the yakima rack in the factory I believe and then shipped the topper to the dealer, because on ARE's website it is available as an add on there. The side "outdoorsman" opening windows were extra(about $110 per side). Having had a a topper without opening side windows on my 2012 OR, and using the bed for tools at jobs, just one day of having opening side windows at work and I can't imagine not having them already. Believe it or not, humans do not have long enough arms to reach all the way into the back of the cab from the tailgate, unless they are Stretch Armstrong. Here's some pick of how they attached the roof rack and some of the "outdoorsman" windows.

Ha! This topper was ready for about 6 weeks before my truck actually arrived so I feel your pain. I can understand how someone would need their shell to be 100% water tight if they needed to keep everything inside absolutely dry, but I must say, I am not in that boat, so it's not as important to me as it might be to someone else. I noticed a few small drops near the tailgate after they washed it right before I picked it up from the dealership. But, having come from my previous 2012 OR with a Safari cap, I would say it had less leakage than that one had even. I use the bed for mulch and compost and work, and any minute leaks have not been an issue. I'm not sure if 100% stoppage of leaks is even possible with any brand if it is outside in a sustained downpour. Just rain angle and amount per hour can turn anything "waterproof" into "water resistant" I give the ARE topper a much better "water resistant" rating than I would give the previous Safari cap.
