Thanks for the link, I'll check it out.

Been thinking about a sling, I like them but all my experience is on hunting rifles.
Should I get a single or dual point sling?
I think I would like the single point better for mobility, but a lot of people don't like them because they firearm will flop around when moving around and no hands on it.

I think I'll look into the 2 point to keep it universal with my other gear.

Ok so I've got a question for you guys, I have a rock river ar with 16 inch heavy barrel, I'm wanting to lose some weight on the gun and was wondering which would be the better option.
    1. Sending the upper off and having the barrel reprofiled to something lighter.
    Or
    2. Buying a new barrel altogether
    Or
    3. Open to suggestions

I have no complaints with my rifle as far accuracy so I don't have a real need to get a new barrel but I'm not familiar with nor know of any reputable companies to send my upper to and have them reprofile it for me. Any tips or links to help me out?

    Thanks Brett

I was in the same position with my 18" 556 upper, I ended up just replacing the barrel, really simple to DIY and in you can sell the old barrel to help recoup cost or keep it for a bench/varmint upper build.

New free float installed, cut/ground down factory pinned front sight gas block. Went from lower pic to above for 80$ including grip, makes a world of difference in the rifle

there are really no written laws on how to limit magazines. it only has to be permanent.. So a rivet was considered permanent. other people epoxy the base plate or roll pin it as an added measure.

Same as Ryan, tried several single-points and feel that two-points are better all around. I use BFG's Vickers sling on everything now. There's other brands out there too, the quick adjust is the key to look for so you can cinch it up for different shooting positions/modes of carry.

The last single-point I own was put on my paintball gun and it works there I think because I never really put the gun down. I'd consider a single-point again if the weapon was small like a PDW, or perhaps a home defense shotgun.

    ADCO

However, it's 80 to contour and 50 for assembly/disassembly, then shipping costs, so you're half way to the cost of a new barrel.

If you can send just the barrel and do the assembly/disassembly yourself, that would be the cheapest option.

I have moved to Way Of The Gun slings. They rule. 2 point, quick adjust, no hassle paracord loop attachment. I run my gun pretty hard most of the time. Throwing it on the ground, or bench when I get to the range. Using the stock as a hammer if someone's castle nut comes loose among other nonsense shit. And I'm OCD with some things so the first WOTG sling I got I threw over a tree branch and dangled from it with no issues. I'm just shy of 160# so I had my friend do the same thing, and he's 215# still no issues. It's pretty solid.

Keep the upper and build a lightweight one.

I say this because the Rock river heavy barrel is and absolute tack driver with 62gr rounds. Sub MOA easily is you do your part.

My dad has an RRA gun with a heavy barrel, he's putting a 3-9x Nikon on it and swapping the aimpoint PRO to the lightweight upper he just finished.

IMHO it's worth keeping, it's assembled well and it shoots like a champ I'm sure.

Just grabbed an AR pistol lower. Anyone have experience with them? I wanna go with a 10.5 inch barrel, noveske flaming hog, or other can, and a Sig brace. Anyone have any recommendations?
