Fuel lines capacity question...

    I'm wondering how much fuel is held in the lines from the tank to the injectors. So if I use 85 octane then fill up with 91, how long until the engine gets the better gas?

    I never checked to see how much it held, volume wise, but it seems it will idle for about 5 mins with what is in the line.

    Mostly, when the pump has nothing to push, the engine dies. Im sure there is still a bunch of fuel in the lines after that....Seems to be when you disco one onayway. :eek:

    I say about on your third tank full before the 91 stops getting diluted with the 85.

    If the fuel line is 0.25" inside diameter, and there are 10 feet of it from the tank to the injectors, then there is about 0.1 gallons between the tank and the injectors.

    Correct me if I'm wrong but I heard it will take at least a tank full before your ECU even adjust to which gas you're using.

    I would highly disagree with that. When I start up my engine at my house of altitude 5500 feet and take a drive into the mountains up to 12,000 feet the engine must adapt. The MAF and ECU are constantly monitoring conditions.
