Horn honks when starting engine

Every time I start my truck the horn honks 2 quick times,
06 base model 4cly, auto
Anybody have this going on? and do you have any suggestions on how to turn this feature off?

I don't think this is a feature, it is a fault. You have short causing the horn to come on two times (IMO).

OK I had a feeling this horn honking was something wrong, I bought the truck used at a auction and it has done it since I got it a month ago, there is no alarm or remote door lock. Shit it did not even have intermittent wipers WTF it does now BTW
Well I guess I will have to have it checked by someone with a computer to hook to it.
I am a 50 yr old guy and it is interesting the looks I get from the young girls that are near the truck at the store or gas station etc. when I start it they think I am honking at them

I would look under the dash on the driver's side and see if there is anything aftermarket looking under there. I think there is an alarm or aftermarket keyless entry stashed somewhere that you don't have the remotes for. If it was just a short it wouldn't be so predictable.

 

i once hooked up a guys horns to his left blinker.......now that was funny!!!!

sounds like you have some aftermarket install problems

 

In the meantime, just pull the fuse for the horn inside the engine bay.

LMAO, reminds me of when me and a buddy wired another buddy's horn to his breaks on his honda.

Every time he'd apply the breaks it would honk all the way to the stop and how ever long he had to hold the break pedal. Then he got wise and started to throw it in neutral...then we told him lol

Looks like this thread has been dead for a while but I thought " ahh what the hell ill post it anyway"

I had the same problem op had with the horn honking when the ignition was turned to "on". It drove me and my chick nuts!! After a bunch of research no one had any idea what to do or how to fix it. But luckily I stumbled across a wiring diagram for these alarms.

How to fix.

1) open up little "coin holder" to the right of the steering wheel to expose the fuse box.

2) look for the t splices on the electrical harnesses that run from under the steering column to the driver side quarter panel.

3) unplug the one that is clamped onto red/green wire

4) drink a beer no more honking here

Everything still works, you can honk the horn manually, unlock and lock doors with remote the only thing that changes is the looks on people's faces when you fire up ur truck.

 

Thank you so much posting this... it worked for me. I never knew this truck had an aftermarket alarm but it was causing the beeps at start up and driving me crazy. I just unplugged the red/green wire t connector and it stopped.
