Hey everyone, is anyone else having issues with seat comfort? Specifically, I have a Limited with the leather seats. They are comfortable enough to just sit in, but there must be something about the shape and position that is driving my back crazy. At first, it was a lower back issue, with lots of pain there after about 15-20 minutes of driving. I eventually adjusted the seat more forward, keeping my knees more bent, and took all of the lumbar support out. That stopped the low back pain...but now I get upper backaches and soreness after driving. This has never happened before...I have no pre-existing back problems, and my 1998 Accord had very flat seats of the era which caused me no pain at all in any position.

Has anyone had a similar issue? What is it about these seats that might be causing this? Has anyone else had a similar experience?

I just got mine last night and now have put on 200 miles. It is different from the tundra. Tundra you sat up had raise and lower and lots more seat and padding. These don't move up and down just forward and back and lean seat back. They also are kind of short seats and back ofseat is lower than front. I was worried because not near as comfy as tundra but so far I got my set set good and I am pretty comfy now. Had an 09 Ridgeline for 5 years and 155k before the Tundra and those seats you sat in weird and were hard and bothered me some but it was great ride. Im shocked as nice as everything is they didn't make a 10 way or at least 6 way power adjustable seat so everyone could find what fits them. Hopefully you get it worked out

Well my 2002 Tacoma 4x4 Limited Double Cab has the WORST seats of any vehicle I've ever owned. The seats in my 16 are leaps and bounds better. I just wish Toyota wouldn't cheap out and would put some power adjustments on them. There is only so much a manual seat can do and if you come from a vehicle with adjustable seats, it's hard to go backwards. With that said, I have not found the seat comfort to be an issue for me.

If there like the 15s than its because your back side is in a hole . My test drive was fine , but after purchase back began to have issues ! Coming from a ram with big flat cushy buckets , I gave it about a month with no relief . So I raised back of seat about 1 1/4 " which made seat base much flatter. Loving seat now, now hate all other seats .

I find the Tacoma seats more comfortable than the 2015 Chevy Colorado.

I have a bulging lower L5 disk that is normally bothered by sitting. My 2007 tacoma would cause me so much pain I could barely walk. After four 4 hour drIves in the 2016 I'm happy to say it does not bother my back at all.

I have had three back surgeries and find the seats very comfortable. No issues here.

ill try post pics soon as i can
3/16 rectangle steel tube, i think it was 3 x 1 -1/14, cut to 3" drilled 2 holes bolted to floor bolted to seat , came out really good . 3/16 was overkill stronger than floor or seat bracket.

I have a '16 Sport, so no leather here, but guessing it's the same seat. I'm 39 years old, 6'2" tall, 185-190lbs, super active and snowboard, mountain bike, surf but have also had major back surgery in the past. I will admit the Tacoma seats are a little less comfortable than my previous Outback seats, and the Outback had infinite seat adjustments and was a power seat, so was a bit of a change going to the archaic adjustments on the Toyota!

I have an added lumbar support and also got a wedge for the bottom part of the seat (where your rear end actually connects with the seat). I drove from Denver to San Francisco with the stock seat and really had no issues, but over time realize that because the seat is low to the ground, it almost forces my knees up higher than my hips, and that puts a lot of stress on your lower back. The wedge that goes under my butt actually raises my backside a bit, allowing my knees to be less bent and reducing that angle. Most bucket seats do this, but unlike the Tacoma, you can adjust that part of the seat. This is what I ended up ordering to try out since it was cheap, and if it didn't work I was only out a few dollars.

Here's are pics of stock photos off of Amazon:

For my 2015 Access Cab, I used a couple of 1 inch spacers with longer bolts, which are sold at the link below.

EZ Peazy! You may want to go with the 1 1/2" spacers to start.

I've been doing this for years but only spend a few bucks by adding washers
in the same place. Just checked and the above is $18 bucks as opposed to the
    maybe 3 bucks I spend.

If you alter your seat by adding a spacer of any kind and get into a major accident you can be taking on all liabilities of your injuries. Both the manufacturer and insurance companies will blame the seat spacers if found in an investigation.

this time, no idea, I happened to have some laying in the garage, I undid the bolt
and put on 5 washers that fit over the bolt. I've done this for many years and never
had an issue. Pop that plastic cover off at the hardware store, undo the bolt and
buy 10-12 that fit over it, takes like 5 min. and changes the whole feel of the seat.

I'd guess that only matters if the seat fails in some fashion and contributes to your injuries. If the airbags don't go off I doubt they'll cite seat spacers but yes I think you increase the risk by mucking with the seat to begin with.

And you can use the stock bolt and don't have to buy a longer bolt to compensate for the washers?

no, not unless you go very high, I only need 1/2-3/4 of an inch so this
works perfect and there's still plenty of threads to secure the oem bolt.
