Seriously, the options here for suspension upgrades seem limitless and I am more confused than when I began looking. :(

At the risk of having everyone say "search it" (I have, hence the puddle of ooze that seemingly leaked from my ears and now sits awkwardly in my lap)...I am going to ask opinions.

I have a 2005 Tacoma, DCSB 4x4 4L. I use it mostly for a beater truck, a third vehicle as it were. It is used 80% on highway (street) and 20% in crappy slow moving trails that peoples goats won't tread on. Well, thats its intent, it isn't equipped yet. :D

I am doing some basic upgrades...an ARB or equivalent bull bar with a winch, so in the range of 210# in extra weight on the front.... It will get an armoured rear bumper and some proper rock sliders... so, as you can imagine, it will need some suspension. I don't envision a huge lift.. I like the factory ride for the most part, although the rear seems to bottom fairly easily. I like the handling that is maintained by small lifts as well.

    So....million dollar question is...

What do I get if I want a simplified lift to help clearance, assist in ride quality and help with the added weight of accessories?
I went OME on a few Jeeps in the past and was pleased...if I go there again, will I be shortchanging myself on droop with the short shock?
And if OME, what springs? I want to be "excursion ready" meaning all my gear.
and UCAs? Or stay stock at a 2-2.5" lift?

I really think I am at the point where I just need someone to say.."buy this". Lol.

budget to start $1000-$1500? Is that feasible?

Thanks folks.....I hope you can appreciate the overload I have going here. Its one thing to have a hamster on a treadmill for a brain, its another when you realize he smokes three packs a day........

OME front to back, 886 coils and a pair of light racing UCAs, with Dakar leafs in the rear.

Does that budget include paying a shop to install the lift? Or do you plan on doing it yourself?

Or, is the same price range more or less, is the standard Bilstein 5100, 885's, add a leaf rear, or air bag.

Do this... I made the mistake of doing the Deaver AAL and regret it... I should have got the Dakar setup.

From what I read here. Stay away from the OME front shocks and do 5100s instead so you'll have more down travel.

I'm talking about the clunk when going over small bumps and speed bumps that many people experience with the 885 and ome nitrochargers

Hard to tell, no clunks here though.

Remove sway bar see if the clunk goes away
Stock UCAs you are probably hitting them with the OME coils, that's one reason I suggest aftermarket UCAs.

You won't know if you need them or not until you have the suspension on (alignment purposes), better to just pay the extra sub $500 for a set and install them on your $30k truck and be done with it.
