I gotta say I am not super happy with my '16 Taco after pulling trailer.

I dont think you get the point... ECT and Tow Haul mode is for towing......
Show me another vehicle where people say to use that on daily driving because truck is a massive lagger.
Do they say this on your Ram forum ?
Thast my point, truck is under-powered, so if you need to use ECT for daily driving you absolutely bought wrong truck.

You were asked how much experience you have driving this truck. You ought to elaborate because I've seen you talk nothing but shit about the truck. I can see reasons why people wouldn't like the truck but it doesn't appear to me that there is really a whole lot less power than the 15. If people come in complaining about the towing capacity of the truck I'd be more inclined to question their lack of foresight and research than than to fault a truck which is obviously not designed to be a performance towing machine.

Pretty much all the 2nd gen. shit-talkers have never driven the truck and
have no plans of ever purchasing it.

As for power, this one has way more than my 2011 I traded in(same model).

Test drive was more than enough, IDealer was desperate to sell one, and he knew I have multiple Toyota's so offered test drive. Crap is a lager like no other vehicle. My place is nothing but hills so as soon as you pull out from dealer there is a hill to climb. That thing Rev up like some shit box to climb the hill that my 2gen truck effortlessly climbs on 5th.
    Still thats beyond the point.
Advising people to use ECT is just plain stupid and never herd of. There is no other company that manufacturers truck that needs tow haul mode for daily driving. That is extreme POS quality right there.

Isn't that how all auto transmissions work? Why have the special 'manual shift mode'? In my 2nd gen (and every auto i've owned) I just select the gear and it won't go higher than that.

Same situation. I traded my 2011 for this one and I've noticed more power. Everybody knew that the power band was in the upper rpm range before buying it. It was talked about for a while before they started hitting the lots. Everybody knew it came with a 6 speed versus a 5 speed so it was going to hunt more often now.

I've got a 1st Gen 4 cyl and I've hauled quite a lot of stone in the back on more occasions than I can count and it has always had enough power to do what I've done. So to someone like me, the truck appears to be huge step up in power, especially since I wouldnt consider driving anything but a manual. Did you drive the manual? The canyorado doesn't sell a v6 double cab manual or I might have considered it.

Now that I'm over 1200 miles I've been pushing it...a little and the power surprised the hell out of me.

Took wifey out a few times and when we hit the highway she was just as shocked at the power. We had the 2011
for almost 5 years so we had allot of time in it to make a good comparison and there isn't one aspect of the
new one we'd change. Having an after market CAI in the 2011 was nice sound wise but I haven't seen any yet
for the 2016 - have you?

My wife talked about how much nicer, and better in every way as her words put it, the 2016 was compared to the 2011 as well. We had the old one for two years and drove it everywhere we could. We had plenty to compare too when we got this one. I've only got a little over 600 miles, but I have played around with it some and yes it does have more power for sure once you hit that power band. I've been keeping my eye out for a CAI, but haven't seen one yet either. Oh and I'll put this up since I know it's only a few seconds before someone shit talks the CAI. :crapstorm:

The Tacoma is an urban cowboy wet dream machine. It is easy to park in crowded parking lots, comes with leather seats and air conditioning, is capable of crawling over suburban curbs and sidewalks a trait that makes it suitable for urbanites to explore and play Lewis & Clark or David Thompson for your northern neighbours. The Tacopma is more reliable than domestic experimental models which seem to constantly searching for reasons why urbanites should buy them.

With the above traits in hand one can hardly pass up on buying the truck. I did and I am loving it. There is no mud puddle, nor pot hole in Terrace I don't chase down and drive through. If the potholes in the spring get to deep I always have 4x4 to save me. BlueT will never understand and only the enlightened few will attempt to use it as a trailer hauler. Most will opt out for the roof tents and or small utility trailers. The former to play the game "Stone Age Man" and the latter to play, "I am an 18 Wheeler". Both are manly endeavors for the young and the restless among us. Now do I need a 2" Ball for that hitch or......

    lol @ shitstorm :D

They make a really nice sound and it's an easy install, more than that I couldn't care less about.

I did the deck plate mod already, sounds a bit better, maybe I need a different filter than the OEM
for a throatier sound - that's all I'm really after.

Same here man, every time she's in it and we go somewhere she is just amazed at what a
difference this one is in and out. After new BFG KO2's and a JL Audio speaker and sub
upgrade, it's almost complete... less the CAI or Filter.

Agreed on the nice sound they make. I'll be buying one once they start hitting the market. Sounds like you've almost got yours all set and ready to go. I just got mine last week so the mods will come slowly. To stay on topic, once I pick up the brake controller harness I'll test out my towing on our ~2100lb travel trailer. After reading this post I sure hope it doesn't blow up :cookiemonster:

While I yet to purchase a 2016 Tacoma. I have taken two test drives. imo, the truck was ok in performance. Different than the 4.0, but not bad. Again, imo, the Tacoma was just fine driving in town and entering the freeway. Acceleration was acceptable.

As far as ECT/Tow Haul in my Ram. Heck I use it in mountain driving. Provides better engine breaking on hills.

So once again you ignore questions asked of you. How much have you driven the 2016's?

Just stated what I know, since I own a Ram. BlueT at times makes statements he cannot back up with facts.

What does Engine breaking has to do with more power ?
Do you use tow haul mode on your RAM for Daily driving, is that a common theme on Ram forum ? That was the question. I dont care that RAM has Tow haul mode. I have in my Truck too but I dont need to use it unless there is 6000 LB trailer behind me.
So what is your point again?

Thats the thing you are comparing to 4 cyl which is apples to oranges.
I am comparing V6 DCLB to V6 DCLB. I have not tried manual but I would not get Manual unless its Regular Cab. Which is something you no longer can buy from Toyota either. Manual makes even less sense. 2005-2015 auto gets better mileage than 2016 MT and will have no downshift issue.

Bluet owns solid front axle dual locked Land Cruiser for chasing paddles.. Those who dont own true Offroad grade vehicle will not understand a difference between wannabe stock truck and something that was build to be taken offroad. ... Sorry but Your 2016 is a childish toy for offroading comparing to FZJ80 :smack:
So I need my Tacoma to be a truck...

What part of my stating when I use tow haul don't you understand?

Fwiw I live in a mountainous region, my 2006 4.0L automatic performed good. On steep grades it would down shift to 4th and maintain 95km/h at 2300rpm or so. Average trailer weight was 3000lbs total. Still wasn't a fan of the automatic so I sold it.

My current 4.0L Frontier tows the same trailer easily with the 6spd MT. I drop to 5th for steep grades which is still an overdrive gear, it runs about 2100rpm at 95km/h with enough power to pass and accelerate, holds 6th fine on lighter grades, 1750rpm at the same speed. It's really nice having that low end torque off road too.

I have a single cab and it blows. And I know some people care highly about MPG but I'm not one of those people. So your argument is still invalid. You can't sell me a canyorado.
