Seafoam Spray for my fuel injectors....Yes or No?

I have 80K on my 2011 Toyota Tacoma Sport and its time to do a complete overhaul. This includes:
-Fuel injector cleaning
-Flush and replace the transmission oil
-replace brake and power steering oil
-replace motor oil with synthetic oil
-replace oil on front/rear diffs and transfer-case
-last but not least replace my radiator fluid

Its a long list of stuff to do!

My question, does Seafoam spray really work or should I take my truck to a mechanic and have them pressurize the system with additives to remove all the gunk.

PS: my truck is running great, so before I get people telling me you don't need to change this or that......This is all preventative maintenance. My truck is due to run like new again

Do not flush your transmission just change the fluid
Synthetic oil, it's a majority vote on this site for Mobil one
Diffs are done every 30k if I recall, at least that's what my book says for the rear
Radiator fluid is good till 100k toyota just adds a conditioner to it at 60k I believe

 

Thanks for the heads up! Im guessing that using see foam is a heck or a lot cheaper then taking it to a mechanic to have the injectors flushed. I've seen that video and wis pretty impressed how much gunk was removed. Whats you opinion on Techtron Chevron additive that you pour in you gas tank for preventative maintenance? I was told this stuff is good to use after every oil change to prevent gunk build up

PS: Why do you recommend not to flush the transmission housing before adding new transmission oil?

 

I use a bottle techron every oil change.
Personal experience with transmission problems with a higher mileage flush, I've always been told anything above 60k just replace the fluid, before 60k go ahead with the flush

 

Yes on the SeaFoam and Techron. Have had good results with both.

 

I just used a bottle of Techron with 20gal of "unleaded plus" and I got to say I did feel a difference. My tacoma felt faster on the freeway, maybe its my imagination or maybe its the fuel grade I used "unleaded plus" 89 octane. I typically use reg. unleaded, figured I'd try something different

 

Seafoam has zero ingredients in it to break down gasoline that is gummed up in the injectors.

Get a proper injector cleaner like redline s1 or gumout with regane

I don't quite trust what Seafoam burnoff is doing to your catalytic converters.

The coolant interval is funny. The maintance booklet says the first replacement is due at 10 yrs / 100k but subsequent replacement is at 5 years...

 

Just get a few cans of Seafoam and pour one in your gas tank before next fill-up. I used to have a low-mile 85 Mustang GT (carbureted) that mostly sat. When I would get it out to drive,it always had a hesitation when you would get into the throttle. I would pour some Seafoam in the tank,and I swear within minutes it cured the hesitation. Believe it or don't.

 

Sea foam absolutely works. I have been using this as a combustion chamber cleaner and fuel additive for years. One of the best ways to remove carbon I have ever found.

 

Just my 2 cents:

If there is contamination / gunk inside the fuel injector there isn't a damn thing you can do about it. Period. A few skin cells can cause an injector to stick open or closed. Really close tolerances... If something is inside it is going to get stuck.

There is a one micron filter pressed in the inlet of the injector. The injector is assembled and tested in a clean room environment. They are welded together and usually molded. They can not be disassembled or opened for cleaning.

If you are wanting to use a product like Seafoam, just put some in the gas tank in the gasoline and it at best will help keep the injection orifices clean on the outside of the injector and maintain the spray pattern. It will not give you more power etc...

Anyone that is telling you different is just jacking you off.

People swear by this stuff. It belongs on the golden shelf of things that can pretty much do anything right next to duct tape and baking soda.

 

Thank goodness my injectors are working just fine. For preventative maintenance I added Techron along with unleaded plus (89 octane fuel) and did notice a extra boost of power on my Tacoma. Don't know if thats coming from the Techron or Unleaded plus, maybe its just my imagination...lol. If my engine begins to lag Im taking it to my mechanic that I trust and getting a full on pressurized/chemical injector cleaning. Sticking with Techron the least invasive!

Seafoam has it's place and although it might not be referred to directly by manufacturers, it somewhat cleaned up a valve issue my buddy was having in his Charger (due to a TSB which he subsequently had to have the dealer actually fix by doing basically the same thing with a Mopar branded product). I personally toss some Techron in when I get a wild hair up my ass and call it a day.

 

In Sept., I poured in a bottle of STP fuel system cleaner (the most expensive one, 5-in-1 or something ) and the exhaust smelled funny on the first startup. Other than that, I noticed no change in engine performance. My truck had 43,000 miles on it at the time.

 

This is because again.... Seafoam does not have any ingredients in it to break down fuel gumming. Techron has some (PEA) , gumout with regane has a lil more, redline s1 has the most concentrate of PEA.

 

Im keeping it simple, unleaded fuel (87 octane) and a bottle of Techron every 3000 miles. My truck is pushing 80K and still runs good and want to keep it that way.
