The reason for no up/down seat adjustment on the 2016 yet is that the safety ratings in the crash tests dropped in big numbers! that's what i was told by the Gulf state Toyota training manager.

The up-down doesn't bother me at all...in fact, the height is great. If I can just get the other axes adjusted properly!

I tried this with PVC from hardware store to find the right height . was not happy with the long bolt
seemed to have unfavorable pressure against it.
I think my method is bullet proof two holes offset no leverage on a long bolt . pics when i can.

The rubber on top of tube is strips left from bed mat just to keep steel from rubbing steel .
In the last 2 pics you can see how it tilted the axis of drivers seat vs passenger seat . drivers seat frame is still not perfectly level but close .
Oh yes and this gives room for small safe.

I also heard this, and that they plan on adding it later once they get the crash rating handled

We just brought home a TRD OR access Cab and the seats are just plain hard.

It is ridiculous to have to put cushions etc in a brand new vehicle to make it comfortable.

My '97 T 100 has far more comfortable seats.

    VERY disappointed.

I don't think the seats are hard or super uncomfortable, and I've had major back surgery. I guess the point I'm trying to make is it's impossible to design a seat that EVERYONE likes. Just can't be done. We're all different shapes and sizes with different likes and dislikes. That's the point of a test drive. Not trying to be rude, but why buy a car that has seats you can't stand sitting in?

Thanks for posting - I'll have to try this in my 2010. Looks more stable than the washer method.

    NP It's rock solid
You can go with 1/8 steel ,that's what seat frame is , 3/16 overkill!

I know what you mean. I just picked up my LIMITED tonight, I had lower back pain as I was coming home. The seat felt very firm to me too.

I thought the seat was very uncomfortable when I first got the truck, my lower back flared up and bothered me for two weeks, I don't have back problems, so I attributed my aches to the seat, it needs 8 way adjustables and for the price paid for this truck it should have had it. With the seat adjusted to actually reach the pedals my thighs do not get supported by the seat, Toyota knows the trucks will sell even if they put two 5 gallon buckets in them for seating. Too bad.

This is one of the negatives to the truck for sure. As poster above said Volvo seats are.like lazy boy. My 15 tundra tss was real comfy. That said my 09 Ridgeline seats were hard. But at least adjustable. Still love the truck and new when I traded my 15 tundra the trade offs. I use mine to commute 40 miles each way daily to work 80 rt. pros and cons on everything. Yes it still sad that if they would of just took one persons job and said comfort in seats a must for at least driver and passenger because that is huge. They failed in that area but they did great in so many other areas. Hopefully they will come out with new seats and adjustable and make it possible to swap them out one day. Thay said still love my truck and I too wish seats were better as much as Im in it. That said I am ok with the seats and got them to where they are ok for me. Not great like Tundra but livable for my commute.

My seats are really comfortable, perfect balance between firmness and comfort. I did a few 3-4 hour trips and had no discomfort.

That's great news. Dont know about 3 to 4 hr drive but mine are ok for hour each way. Haven't been in it for longer than that at one time without stopping for period of time. I think a lot is what u came out of and used too and the person too.

Just an observation for those who are considering the simple, effective 'shim up the rear mounts' modification.

While it is indeed simple and easy to do, and can bring the seat bottom up to a level orientation, it will also play havoc with the fitment of closely fitted rear floor mats, like those sold by WeatherTech.
