What a great idea! I can so see the tip jar over flowing for something like this.

The Mrs now has a big deck to put the dragon, so she has plenty of room for a donation jar.

Big time flooding here. Portland Or is having flood issues. Hunker down Jen, another big blow and rain is on the way. Indefinite road closures all over the state(s).

Nope, they have the water wings on just moving to a different locale. Watched a wood duck go floating across the road yesterday riding on top of a wooden crate, shaking out his wings. Tells you how wet it is here.

Hi all!! How's everyone doing on this fine Thursday morn?

@Mod , you ain't kiddin about the rain. Holy cow!! Part of the reason we did the gate/fence remodel corner this summer was because we felt that the old rose bed that was there sort of diverted water towards a small crawlspace window at the back corner of the house at ground height, and during heavy rains the window well would fill and water would start to enter the crawlspace through that window. I definitely think taking the rose bed away and making it a more consistent, gradual slope to the driveway helped, but sure enough that damn thing is filling up now in spite of the changes we made. Darnit. Might put a small sump pump thingy in there if this keeps up. There's a small drain in the floor of our crawlspace, I assume for these types of ridiculous rain events, so at least the water is escaping the crawlspace quickly once t enters.

Taco is such a bad ass in this kinda stuff - the heavy winds, the knee high water on the roads - she handles it all beautifully. But I feel for Eric in the Civic, being low to the ground and light in the heavy winds. The old Civic had more than one distributor get soaked and give out in major storms like this in the past though - once I had no choice but to drive into a massive deep puddle and it just died right there and wouldn't restart, of course at a super busy, high traffic intersection  - sure enough, distributor got wet. So at least this Civ is coil packs!! :) Will be very glad when this super nasty weather passes. Ready for summer again already!! And in the meantime, grateful that he lets me drive the Taco. :burnrubber:This morning we were joking about how glad we were that at least we didn't wind up going with a Yaris - on days like this, I think you would just die instantly when you started driving it

Drywall and mud are done guys!!!!!!! I'm finishing up with Kilz today, then a coat of paint, then Eric will put our vanity light and giant cedar framed mirror up tonight - yay!!! Can't wait to see how all of that looks. So nice to see real walls again. Still have to put up trim around new pocket door and possibly crown molding, build vanity, tile floor, tile a small backsplash & sidesplashes once new sink/vanity are in, and deal with an annoying tub leak that we have been battling for some time now. Going to snake a camera up from the crawlspace to try to pinpoint where the leak is coming from before removing any more drywall - hoping we won't have to do any more drywall at all. It's a pain!! Takes forever to get it right!!

@keakar , wish you were right about the coons floating away. Unfortunately, mod is right though - those things would f'ing survive a nuclear bomb!!!!!!! They seem indestructible to me. They reproduce way too fast in relation to how frequently they are preyed upon in cities. Fortunately around this time of year, we don't have many critter conflicts - guess it's too cold/rainy for them to be out and about. Or maybe we just don't notice them as much since we're inside more?

@koditten , glad you found the garden statue guy!! I like it!! Bet your wife will be super excited. Like the tip jar idea too!! Why the hell not? :D

Fill me in on what's new and exciting with all of you TW peeps, it's been a while!!! :D Happy Thursday all!! :)

    couple of suggestions here:

first DO NOT NAIL YOUR POCKET DOOR MOLDINGS! the pocket frame will start coming apart, they are too flimsy to handle the banging. get a brad nailer and use that to install the trim moldings without doing any damage.

second, the most common tub leak is from the gasket for the vent cap or if its a tub/shower, from not being sealed behind the handles or tub spout. 90% of the time the tub vent cap gasket is loose, missing, or has gone bad. if nothing else it gives you a spot to check before going too deep into opening things up. the other leak 10% of the time is the bottom drain gasket so try taking the drain out and replacing that gasket as well. both can be done without opening anything up in the walls

by taking the tub drain out, I mean it unscrews from inside the tub with a special tool or just wedge a pliers in it and use a screwdriver to unscrew it

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lkYo9LWcFHQ

even if this isn't your problem its good to replace these if they are old and the kit for both only costs like $20

Had one back in 88 on my 85. It went about 2-3 years then it was pulled off. Walked out of the stores a few times to seeing and hearing my truck running, for no apparent reason. Glad I had manual door locks. No buttons pocket pushed whilst in the store. Thinking there was a frequency problem,,or some hacker channel making it start. Had heard that commercial tugboat radios could have set it off. Did a full replace of the system and it still did it. A early crappy design, but it was neat for the reasons you stated.

Some of the local kids I know having fun up by St Helens today. Had about 6-8" fall the last few days above 3000ft,,so some fresh fluff up higher. Ran around in that bowl a few times myself,,fun stuff.

wasn't me that recommended or suggested it, I hate them things just for the very reasons stated above. I rather the security to personally run out there and start it with the key, then if need be, I run back inside if I have to wait for it to warm up.

Wrong context Karl. I was referring to the help with getting my A/C functional.

I can understand the worry of security. Around here theft is pretty rare. I never lock my doors on the truck. The only thing of value in the truck is the Scan Gauge and an ashtray full of change. I don't want someone breaking a window for something so trivial. In addition, I'll be further ahead if the truck is stolen. You know how these trucks keep their value.

Saw this on another site. Figured it would be right up Jen's alley... Seeing how she is loving the do it yourself home repairs.

Ugly as sin, but I bet it gets awesome milage.

    Go green.

Looks like a early 1900's aircraft cockpit,,turned inside out.

Yellow and black and put a stinger on the back.
