I'm considering a full size truck. I'm just curious what folks would say about what type of truck they would move to if they went full size. I'll go with a crewcab and need the price in between 44-48k. I'm leaning towards the F150. Thoughts ?

Oh goodness, you're going to get opinions all over the map on this.

The F150 is a great truck. I have many friends with it, and they love it. Personally, it's too big for me, but it sounds like you have a need for a full-size.

I always tell everyone to just go drive all of them around. Go to all the dealerships and drive every single one you're even considering. I just drive, tell the salesman to be quiet so you can pay attention to the truck, takes some notes on likes / dislikes, and then walk away, or onto the next truck. This will piss off the salesman to no end, but he's not the one spending $50k on a truck.

    Commence the 50 bajillion opinions!

A friend of mine went from a T100 to a F 350 crew cab to a Tundra over a 15 year time frame. He said he done with Ford to many expensive repairs in the first 100k.

Had a 2013, was in the shop 4 times for little stuff .. motor and tranny were good though.

    Sunroof got stuck open
    Backup cam stopped working
    a/c stopped working
there was a small 'skid' plate that came in to contact with the oil pan, it was loose from the factory and over the course of 15k miles a leak developed from the oil pan gasket
and a rock from the highway flew in to the intercooler and knocked a hole in it .. not the truck's fault though, just a shit design.

Pulling a 10k lb trailer though you can't tell it's back there.

Everyone complains about tundra's mpg .. but I would take reliability over mpg any day.

Tundra. Reliability over all. My local ford has a 3 month wait for service or warranty work.

The main issues I've seen on Tundra's at work are the slightly older ones, 2007-2010... cam tower leaks. It's a bitch to fix that... basically ripping the timing cover off. 12-14 hour job. And honestly, usually the leak isnt even bad, just minor seepage. Most people never have puddles or spots of oil on the ground.

The transmissions are solid, rest of the drivetrain is solid, I've seen a rare few that have a leaking power steering rack near 100k or above. I think I saw ONE 2014 truck need the radio head unit replaced, but that was under warranty. I'd love to have a Tundra. I make do with the size of the Tacoma though, but honestly some days I wish I went with a Tundra. Nothing holds its value like a Tacoma though, so I know my next truck will likely be a Tundra, and I'll have no issues getting out of my Tacoma for good money. No F150 will hold its value like a Toyota truck.

I downsized to my current Taco from a 2015 Chevy 3/4 ton Duramax/Allison - that's a helluva lot of truck but if you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up. The new GM truck interior is really amazing.

If a diesel isn't on your radar I'd go Tundra. I don't trust the GM/Ford gas burners.

Just traded my Tacoma on a Ram Big Horn last month. Very solid truck. Had to get back in the mopar family.

I got a very good deal on it but the only other truck I'd even consider is a Tundra.

Yeah. I didn't really like it at first but after 3 weeks, it wasn't even a thought.

This will depend on a lot of things but here are my OPINIONS of each option...

Ford F150, my definite choice - probably the most reliable, strongest and most popular of the larger trucks. The 2015's look the best to me too.

Chevy/GMC 1500 - Love the looks and style of the Silverados and especially the Sierras, but I have always questioned their vehicles quality, which is why I am on this site and not ColoradoFans.

Ram 1500 - Great value and by far the best gas mileage (if you go eco-diesel, it gets 29 hwy mpg!!). I have never liked the looks of the Ram trucks, but they do come packed with tons of included features others don't until higher packages (tech and whatnot) at lower trims.

Toyota Tundra - If you don't mind getting under 15 mpg, this is a strong option. Toyota reliability is a huge plus, sounds like you already know Toyota vehicles, so there won't be much of a learning curve.

Nissan Titan - No, just no, IMHO.

I loved my 2010 Tundra double cab. Big comfy seats, upright seating position, quiet cabin and 100% reliable. The 5.7L isn't the most fuel efficient but man is it ever a nice engine. I preferred it by far over the 5.3L in the 2010 Chev I had a few years ago. It just ended up being unnecessary for my lifestyle.
