I definitely like the look of these. Will they be available in any other load ratings other than "E"? My Duratracs are closing in on end-of-life and I can't stand the ride of such heavy sidewalls. Also, how do they compare to the ST Maxx or ST Pro, as I was going to consider these in my top choice? (Going to be looking at the 285-75-16's or maybe even the 315's)

The sizes/ load ratings outlined in the OP is all this tire will be produced in. This could change in the future depending on how this tire takes off, though.

When compared to the ST Maxx and STT Pro, besides the obvious tread pattern differences, the MTP utilizes 2-ply sidewall construction where the other two models utilizes Cooper's Tek3 sidewall construction.

 

They look ok to me. coopers 2 ply side wall isn't all bad, i run the st's right now and was worried as could be about a flat via the sidewall, never happened yet! i had the st maxx before these and obviously the 2 ply wall runs softer for daily driving and also require less airing down off road, these are two positive features. but if you wheel in areas with endless sharp rocks the maxx or stt pro are the best bet from cooper. anyhow blah blah i plan on a 3rd set of coopers this spring..

 

Any snow ratings? I live in Colorado and this can be quite important

 

Doubt it, it's an MT.
Never seen an MT with any more than an M&S rating, no severe snow ratings.




These tires do look pretty good though, too bad there arent more 18" wheel sizes available. The 2 available are too small for my truck.

Thanks! I wasn't sure because there's no reviews since this tire is so new. I've had a set of Duratracs that I absolutely loved but the price is just too much. The price on these Cooper's looks almost too good to be true and am hoping to find some more info about them before I commit to buying them.

 

The Discoverer MTP does not carry the 3-peak mountain snowflake designation for winter driving conditions. This isn't to say the tire will be terrible in snow, though. The MTP utilizes silca-enriched compounding and variable depth siping, both of which improve all-season/ wet traction.

Like most M/T tires, the MTP does not have a mileage warranty. They are, however, backed by Coopers Limited Manufacturer's Warranty.

 

What will be the price of the 305 65 17? It isn't listed on discount tire direct yet

So I took the plunge and purchased the 305/70/16's. I've had them on my truck for about a week now and am quite pleased! They were a lot quieter than I thought especially after seeing the aggressive lug pattern! They got the first true test in the snow last night during an impromptu rescue of a friend that got stuck somewhere that they shouldn't be. Granted, these are not rated for snow but they performed better than expected and they are very close to the Goodyear Duratrac's that I've previously owned. I only lost traction a few times but the conditions were pretty slick with ice under snow. Only time will tell when it comes to how well the tread wears but so far I am not regretting my purchase!
