Want to lift my 2x4

I have an '08 2x4 access cab taco.

I want to lift it about 3inches and then put slighly larger rims and tires on it for a bit more height and added hyper masculinity (riding on BF ATs / stock wheels right now).

I have been reading all the threads and stickies I can find but I am still a bit lost of the best way to go for what I want.

99% of my driving is just around town / highways. When I do take her into the bush it's nothing too punishing at all. So I want something that will be very smooth for around town but doesn't have to be able to take the abuse a 4x4 would see.

I am willing to shell out a good amount of cash for a sexy setup, but I don't want to go overboard and get a setup that I wouldn't fully utilize based on where I will be driving. I basically just want to be able to order everything I need online (not sure exactly all the parts I need), take her to a shop and have her good to go.

5100's seem pretty popular, but again because I'm just in a 2x4 for around town I don't know if these would be practical.

Sorry, but this is a because your description applies perfectly to me, but I'm a 6 lug prerunner, so if anyone want to suggest a lift to match that descirpion for my truck I am all ears.

 

TY Chris, I've read enough posts to know you know everything and to never doubt your opinion . With any luck they will release a rear spring TSB for 2010 tacomas and I can get some 5100's set at 1.75.

If I install this, is there anything else I can add later to give her another inch or 2? Or would I have to go with a different kit completely? I guess when I put larger rims and tires that will add a couple more inches of clearance too though.

 

OK, so if you have a 2wd Taco I am assuming you want a lift for looks primarily, correct? Probably want to throw on some larger tires and have that 4x4 look?

OK, so if that is the case you might consider a body lift, or a spindle lift. Cheap and give good results, except they'll change your ride characteristics and vehicle stability.

Hmmm. Not sure you can do the spindle lift if it's not a Prerunner? Not sure. Chris4x4 would know...

From my naive understanding it should be possible. If so, you could get 4" lift pretty easily.

Just throw on add-a leaf in the rear and some blocks and new shocks. And then the spindle kit in the front.

 

yea I don't want something that will mess around with my factory ride feel too much, which from what I've read, this Ready lift kit doesn't.

I do want it largely for looks, but even though it's a 2wd I still spend a lot of time in the mountains and wouldn't mind have a bit more clearance on my diff which is why I need this so I can put larger tires on her.

I want to change the shocks up too. From what I've found pro comp 324515 are a good match with this lift. anyone know otherwise?
