Keep that dirty 3 letter word out of here!

Don't rub it in. I don't wanna grow up!

Good Call. Any possible jobs should be pushed back to a little ways into January. Let's go wheeling

Only positive side is that not being a broke and starving college student will equate to a more awesome build. Spring list:

    • Regear and Front ARB. Bought a used stock front diff to build up the new one whenever.
    • OBA. Add tank and wiring to my Viair setup. Thought about selling it and swapping to an ARB, but can get a 2.5 gallon tank and all the fittings for basically the same price.
    • Rear suspension. Break down leafpack and measure. Remount shocks to utilize full spring travel or get longer shocks. Add some Wheeler's superbumps. Possibly add one more leaf to the pack.
    • Front suspension. On the list, but will probably have spent all my money. Wanting good coilovers and UCAs.
    • Misc. swingout modifications to include camp table, jerry can mounts, and camp lights.
I'm sure there's all sorts of little stuff I'm forgetting too.

Nice, I'm a business major right now. Not sure I really like it, but I don't want to switch because I want to be done as soon as I can be. I'm in my first semester and already taking sophomore level courses so I will hopefully get to finish at least one semester early.

Wouldn't bother with the air tank really. Not worth it. Unless air tools are a normal thing in the truck OSK. Even then. Not totally worth it.

I graduate in May..looking forward to it in some ways. Not in others

Yes sir. It was at 5:45 am so I saw it bounce off into the darkness. Luckily, I was supposed to give an important presentation that day so I was equipped with my dress shoes and a full suit when I climbed down the embankment to fetch it.

I agree, a tank will only provide an extra minute or less before the compressor kicks on. CO2 for the win :D

    Damn, lucky it wan't worse.

Do you run your lockers off CO2? Or will you still need to get a compressor to run an ARB front locker?

So yeah, I will be needing some sort of air tank to operate the locker when that happens. My compressor already performs great for airing up tires, I don't lag that far behind you as is James.

Don't want to deal with CO2 for a number of reasons, and my first thought was swapping the Viair for an ARB, which includes a little tank and everything needed to operate the locker. This just seems like wasted effort though, as the compressor specs are nearly the same, and mine's already installed. While you guys are right, there's not a ton of advantage to a small tank, there also are no disadvantages I can think of, and it will in fact help me air up a slight bit faster.

    I do. Use a paintball co2 bottle

Have to find space for it is the disadvantage. And if a locker is then not reason may as well fit a small 1 gal tank. You will see absolutely no improvement on tire refill time. Once the tank runs out of 150psi the compressor will have to run 100% to try and catch up but you'll just be fill a tire. So really could make it worse. Since your compressor is probably only 30% duty cycle anyways as most vair compressors are.

That's where the dual arb wins out. Much much higher duty cycle...cause there are two.

Dual ARB is too rich for my blood. And I've got a shit ton of space under the bed for a tank. I've got a Viair 400H, which has a 33% duty cycle IIRC. Can't see how it could possibly make it worse. I air up 4 tires now with no tank in like 5 minutes, and have never hit the overheat cutoff. So I fill up the tank at the start of a trail, run the locker all day, and when I go to air up I get one tire free, then the compressor runs just as it does now for the other 3.

Only negative I see is that while the compressor and tank would be good for 150psi, I would have to use a lower pressure switch for use with the locker.

Use your sliders for a tank, just need the one long section, doesn't have to fill all the tubes.

Old scuba tanks work well for this too. I have one that will fit under the bed nicely, just haven't gotten around to plumbing it in yet. Not sure what to run off it either as I don't have an air locker. It would help with re-seating a tire bead though.

If you're just wanting to air up faster, a few guys I have seen with E rated tires run a single line with a screw on chuck off the spare tire, which they will have filled at home to 80psi. Can easily fill another tire on the ground and then some.
