And one of these comes in super handy for both applying and removing decals on your truck:

3M scratch removal system. YouTube it. I give it a 10 out of 10. I have blazing blue and put a couple scratches on the bed. It worked as advertised. It's like $18 at auto parts stores. It's two buffer pads A drill adapter. A wet dry sandpaper thing that you use wet and is amazing. Two compounds. Works as advertised!!!

    THIS^^^^^^

I have removed a lot of surface scratches (and chips) using wet sanding and Polish. I have a Porter Cable Orbital but sometimes I can't reach the tight spaces so I use an attachment on a drill to make a rotary sander/polisher.

Kind of confusing. It should be 2000, then 3000, then 5000.

    That's my go-to scratch remover.
It will polish out 2,000 grit and doesn't leave any swirl. Polished a strat guitar with it.
    You might need several applications.

fully armored, 4.88, 33 skinnies, tundra brakes, a REAL cold air intake.
I wouldn't TOUCH a new truck with any sand paper. rubbing compound or wax should do it.

just a surface scratch, mostly in the clear coat.
    wax, rubbing compound, polish. :itllbuffout:

anytime I have something like this, applicator pad and some meqs scratch remover rubbing compound, followed by random orbit polisher with a high quality polish, then a coat of carnuba wax.

The Meguiars Ultimate Compound worked wonders! I had to apply it 2 times but scratches completely disappeared!
