I have a 2015 Access cab. At night/dark with the headlights on sone of the switches are lit up,some are not. Shouldn't they all be lit?
For example the driver side window switch is lit up,but the power lock switch in not. My sideview power mirror switch also doesn't light up.The passenger door switch isn't lit up either.
    Is this normal?

Seems odd to me. Why only light up some and not all?

Yep noticed this as well, welcome to cost cutting. There's evidence of this in many other manufacturers and makes in general, not just Tacoma's. Stuff that should be included as standard for the price you pay but nowhere to be found.

In Toyota speak its called Kaizen, its told to the public that its improvent but on the inside it means constant cost cutting.

It seems logical to me. For example why have lighted power mirror adjust? You should not be adjusting the mirrors at night while driving so why have a light on a button you wont use at night(or shouldn't be) The locks and door switches each have a distinctive feel to the fingers so really you dont need a light for those either those can all be operated by feel and again if you need to look at your window switch in order to roll it down well you probably shouldn't be driving.

Though the more things you have that run the more fuel you are using at the end of the day. Not that I expect my Tacoma to go 40MPG but FDOT does make Toyota and every other maker meet a certain standard so much of your electronic stuff has to do with that.

Thats why most cars and trucks are now using electronic assisted power steering it slaves less power from the engine hense less fuel is used. Also why most fans today are electric and not directly engine driven. Of course your internal cabin electronics can use more fuel like radio full blast stuff like that.
